In reply to: Gravatars vs WP Profile picThe WP Profile pic *is* a gravatar, straight from Gravatar.com (which is an Automattic project; as in Matt Mullenweg).
What code are you using in your template? As far as I know, if you have the correct code there (and I were to comment on your blog using the email associated with my gravatar here on this forum) you should see the gravatar that I use here.

In reply to: getting .com avatar to show on new .org blogIt must be, but I don’t blog at WP.com either so don’t know. But I administer my gravatars at gravatar.com and I’ve noticed that if I go to a gravatar-enabled site and comment with one email addy, it shows one picture; if I switch and use a different one, it shows that one instead. (I’ve kind of become obsessed with changing images, kind of like a woman trying on shoes.)
Here’s an example of where I used two different email addys in the same comment thread. See the different pics?

In reply to: getting .com avatar to show on new .org blogIs where you administer a gravatar to work on any *gravatar-enabled* site. You can associate different images with different email addresses. (I’ve got five going.) Your “gravatar account” is the email associated with your WordPress.com account/blog. (I have a WordPress.com account simply for the Akismet code and the gravatar, I don’t use it to blog.) Now whether or not your gravatar image appears on another person’s site in his comment box depends on whether his blog/site is gravatar-enabled. This forum is, so any changes you make to the email address associated with your account at THIS FORUM should work. Do bear in mind that it takes about 15 minutes for the changes to take effect (if you change pictures or email addys), and sometimes you have to clear out your browser cache on top of that to see the change.
HTH.

In reply to: New Templete1. For the love of GOD, don’t use Front Page.
2. Do you mean you want to take an existing DESIGN that you’ve had for years and port (convert) it to WordPress? It would be a suite of templates, mainly header.php, index.php, sidebar.php, footer.php and the stylesheet, styles.css.
Start reading about themes here:

In reply to: I’m Lost!!! Please Help :)Not everyone is meant to do everything. You don’t see me trying to remove my next-door neighbor’s spleen, do you? (Hint: It’s because I’m not a doctor, in general, or a surgeon in particular.)
And if you are just learning, then do as Whoo said: READ. Start with the link above. And don’t try to redesign your site right off the bat. Just blog a little; live with WordPress for awhile. Get familiar with it. THEN worry about tweaking it.
Content is king anyway, so you really should focus on that if you want a well trafficked blog.

That’s part (or all) of the problem.

In reply to: Image UploadI hate to tell you this, but try Opera. Although I’ve used it with FF 2.0.0.4 without problem. Oh, try this, I just googled for it; don’t know if it fits your sitch, but it might:

In reply to: CSS styling the list in the sidebar@whoo: Maybe that wasn’t the right choice of words, Middle Eastern. Those read right to left; I worked for an Egyptian for a year and it drove me crazy. Drove our copy department nuts too. Asian (Japanese, Chinese, Vietnamese — and I’m sure Korean as well, not sure) also read from right to left.
Why me? WTF have I ever done?

In reply to: CSS styling the list in the sidebarI’m not at my usual computer and don’t have my FireFox dev. tools handy on this machine. I’ll try to take a look at it when I’m home later. Shouldn’t be too hard of a fix. BTW, and a little OT, I’d love to know when that site goes live; there’s some great info there and I know two people who could benefit from it. 🙂
