There are many ways you can turn your WordPress site into a membership site, the most popular at the moment being the integration of aMember (you may want to check out http://membershipacademy.com).
I’ve set up many membership sites for people, using that combination.
Although if you’re looking to do it all yourself (rather than hire someone etc.), but are not a technical guru, you could try WishList Member (http://member.wishlistproducts.com/) which I’ve heard good things about.
