I am having the same problem trying to install the Bridge theme. Unzipping locally works without any problems, but even a freshly zipped archive throws me the same error. And this is not due to the theme being installed already.

I went ahead with option 1. and I can confirm that it works.
I’ll let you know if I detect anything “fishy” 😉
