We tested this with our latest version of our plugin and the latest version of the Classic Editor plugin but we can’t reproduce the issue. It seems to work perfectly fine from our end.
This issue must be specific to your site’s setup. Please head over to your WP Dashboard > Rank Math > Status & Tools > System Status and click the “Copy System Info to Clipboard” button, and paste it here so we can further analyze the issue.

Regarding the slowdown you’re experiencing in the backoffice, Rank Math is designed to be lightweight and fast, so this is not the typical behavior. In most cases, such performance issues are related to small misconfigurations or server resources not meeting the recommended values. To help identify the cause, we recommend installing the Query Monitor plugin. This plugin can help you check if there are any resource-intensive tasks occurring when editing pages or posts.
Additionally, please get in touch with your web host and confirm that your server meets at least the following recommended settings:
- PHP Memory Limit: 1024M
- Max Input Time: 600
- PHP Time Limit: 240
- PHP Max Input Variables: 1000

The purpose of the global robots meta settings in Rank Math is to set a default behavior for category pages. This ensures that any new categories you create will automatically inherit these settings, and existing categories that haven’t been individually configured will also follow the default.
We do include a warning when you try to change the robots meta for individual posts or categories that differ from the global setting (you can see an example here: https://i.rankmath.com/i/2thy6v). The reason you are still able to manually set individual posts or categories to “index” even when the global setting is “noindex” is to give users flexibility and control over specific content, while still maintaining the convenience of a default global configuration.
