In reply to: [Twenty Eleven] Place text in header instead of the searchboxYes – create a Child Theme to make any changes, and then customize the header.php file to put whatever you want there. Unfortunately it’s not a widget drag and drop, but it can be done pretty easily.
[Edit to add…] You could also go so far as to widgetize the header so as to have more fine-tuned control over that area:

In reply to: [Twenty Eleven] white space in default templateI’m not seeing a gap on the left – do you mean the box on the right with your pricing listed? Or did you fix it on your own?

In reply to: WordPress sidebarHave you tried…
- flush any caching plugins you might be running, as well as server and/or browser caches.
- deactivate all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s). Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.
- If you can’t get into your admin dashboard, try resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin (read this page if you need help).
- switch to the Twenty Eleven theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.
- If you can’t log in to change themes, you can remove the theme folders via FTP so the only one is twentyeleven. That will force your site to use it.
- manual upgrade. When all else fails, download a fresh copy of the latest.zip file of 3.5 (top right on this page) to your computer, and use that to copy up. You may need to delete the wp-admin and wp-includes folders on your server. Read the Manual Update directions first.
- check the Master List to see if you’re experiencing a known issue: http://wordpress.org/support/topic/troubleshooting-wordpress-35-master-list

In reply to: Migrating from blogger to wordpress on custom domainYour SEO stats shouldn’t be the deciding factor here – any change in your site’s address is going to effect your rankings no matter what. Your concern should be how you can best deliver your content to your readers.
If you want to migrate to WordPress, you’ll have to change your URL. There are plugins to help with redirects to help the search engines adjust. The question you need to ask yourself is if WordPress can do what you want your site to do better than what you already have.

In reply to: Pictures in blog using twenty-tenDid you try disabling all of the plugins and then uploading an image? Disabling all plugins is a standard troubleshooting test. It doesn’t matter if you have other sites using the same configuration – there’s obviously something wrong with this one.
Once you have run that test, if you’re still having problems, I suggest you do a manual upgrade of WordPress.

In reply to: updated to 3.5.1 and now my plugins don't workI think you’re missing some files or some files didn’t load properly in your installation. Try replacing the wp-admin and wp-includes folders with the files from a FRESH download.
