I realized the overlay had been set to “screen” when I duplicated the page, rather than normal. Should be fixed now.
Thanks for all of your help! 🙂
Hi Guys,
Sorry- I fell off the grid for a few days.
I just tried duplicating the page, and recreating the About pages, and it *seems* to work (hard to tell on Safari on my laptop… Am going to head home and check on my PC).
Seems like for whatever reason, this might be the answer. Thanks for all of your help this week! I really appreciate it! 😀
LesTexas60,
I hate being that person, but I’m a n00b, so I can open it up in Inspector, I found the line you have highlighted in your image (or did… Then I clicked something and lost it… :p), but I’m a total loss as to what I’m supposed to do after that.
I’m so sorry -_-And Logo, I have the image in Background, and then I have a colour overlay in Background Overlay. 😛
Thanks again for both of your help!
I’ll be honest, I can’t find that line in Inspector on my end.
But thank you for figuring this out! 🙂
I have to go as well, but I will look again and try to figure this out tomorrow night :pEmail button is in the top bar on the right.
Thank you so much! 🙂Oh my goodness. I’ve been trying to figure out what that black box has been for 4 days. Default setting within the theme it seems- And now it is gone. That’s why I was playing with the Z-index in the first place- I was hiding that footer!
Thank you SO much for letting me know what that was. 😛Here you go :p
https://ibb.co/eu2rW8Hi Guys,
Sorry, I haven’t been able to fiddle around with this until this evening.
1) Permalinks was my fault. (Long story short, for the Udemy course, I was originally just using desktop, localhost WordPress. Then I completely restarted on HostGator + an actual domain, after having trouble migrating, and skipped that step). That should be resolved now. Thanks for reminding me about that. 😛
2) I’m aware of SSL, and think that is coming later in the Udemy course (but I wanted to focus on fixing these aesthetic issues first before I kept going. Again, the prof isn’t terribly responsive, which is why I’m asking here versus there). But I do know what that is- Just trying to take this one step at a time.
3) I am totally aware the landing page looks different on every browser. I couldn’t figure out how to get the “Enter Site” to stay locked in the same place on every browser (I have both Mac and Windows systems, and spent a great deal of time frustrated because I couldn’t get it to lock in one particular place). So I gave up, and moved onto these other issues instead… :p Honestly, this website is more of a personal project rather than something I’m going to use for business purposes. Just trying to get enough experience from this process to tell people that I’ve “dabbled” in WordPress a bit (I have no aspiration to be a web designer/developer by any means).
4) HEADER! I took a picture of my settings, and didn’t seem to be able to resolve the issue with the grey bottom. Am I looking in the correct place?
https://ibb.co/jdROTo5) ALIGNMENT. I deleted the cache twice, and didn’t seem to have changed results after removing the Z-index value (I went and did this on the “Dancer” page too, just to keep that as an example).
So I went and just deleted all of the sections to see if it would fix itself.1) https://ibb.co/e1fBET

Again, I really appreciate the time and effort you are both putting into helping me. Thank you SO much.
Hi LogoLogics,
I took the Z-index off of that page. The reason why it was on, is because there is a grey border/bar underneath the header that I can’t seem to get rid of (basically, I’m taking this course through Udemy, I asked my prof for help, haven’t gotten a timely response, which is why I’ve now brought all of my questions here).
Also, to be honest, I have NO idea why they have the index.php in all of the links. Nor do I know how to change it. When I go into the “edit page,” it only lets me edit after that section of the URL. So if you have any ideas on how to fix that, I would greatly appreciate that too xD
Gave it a shot, but all did did was move the text up higher -_-
Sighhh.I set them as the background for the “Header” (About Me, Dancer, etc.) on each page. The sections below are just white background with the columns and images placed into them.
Maybe you will notice something I missed:
Background on page that’s misaligned:

3) https://ibb.co/bOV7zTI really do appreciate all of your help. It’s okay, thank you for all the time you’ve spent looking at this 😛
Sorry, that was unclear on my part/I misspoke. I meant that it was a background to the “Heading” element, not the header.
The header itself is the one on every page, as put in through the general WordPress customize thing (not through Elementor).Yup, the image behind the “About Me” is a background to the Header.
I had it as boxed- I just changed it to Full Width, but it didn’t seem to make a difference.
I’m using OceanWP.
As mentioned above, when I go to Edit Section > Advanced, the left/right margins are greyed out to “Auto.” Do you know if there is any way to fix this?
I took a screenshot for you to see:
