Hi @programmin,
Just checking in one last time here. We have not heard back from you after the update, so we are assuming the issue is resolved on your end.
As mentioned earlier, we released BetterLinks Free v2.4.3 where this PHP 8 related issue has been fixed. Hopefully everything is now working smoothly for you.
We are going to mark this thread as resolved for now. Thanks a lot for reporting the issue in the first place, it really helped us track this down. If you run into anything else or notice something off again, feel free to open a new thread and we will be glad to help.
Hey @power1parts,
This has already been reviewed through direct communication, and based on our investigation, the issue appears to be related to the server environment rather than Essential Addons. Since the root cause is outside the plugin, I’m resolving this thread from our end.
If anything changes or you notice new behavior, feel free to update the thread or reach out again.Hi @programmin,
Just a quick update for you.
We have released BetterLinks Free v2.4.3, and this issue has been fixed in the latest version. Please go ahead and update the plugin when you get a chance and let us know if everything works as expected on your end.
If you still notice anything unusual after the update, feel free to share the details and we will be happy to take another look. Thanks for your patience while we looked into this.
Hi Red,
Thanks again for the detailed update and for testing everything so thoroughly. I know this has been a bit of a long back and forth, so I really appreciate your patience.
Since caching and optimization have already been ruled out, the next step would be to run a full plugin conflict test just to eliminate any conflicts.
- Temporarily deactivate all plugins except Elementor and Essential Addons
- Check the page while logged in
- If it works, reactivate the other plugins one by one and test after each activation
Along with that, to rule out any impact from recent updates, could you please also try reverting Essential Addons to an older version and test once more? This will help confirm whether the issue is version specific.
You can temporarily install version 6.5.5 from here.
https://downloads.wordpress.org/plugin/essential-addons-for-elementor-lite.6.5.5.zip
After reverting, please clear any remaining cache, log in again using a private or incognito window, and check if the widgets behave differently.
If the issue still persists after both the conflict test and the rollback, it would strongly point to a deeper site specific interaction. In that case, I would recommend reaching out to us directly so our team can investigate more closely.
Please let us know how it goes. We are happy to continue assisting and get this resolved.
Hi @power1parts
Thanks for sharing the detailed report. I really appreciate the clear breakdown, that always helps.
I checked the shared URL from our end. Since the issue only happens for logged in users, I could not reproduce it as expected while viewing the page as a public visitor. I also tested the behavior on our side with logged in and admin users, and I was unable to find the same issue with Essential Addons widgets.
At this point, it looks like the behavior may be unique to your site rather than a general issue with the current EA version.
While taking a closer look, I noticed that LiteSpeed and Jetpack are both active on your site. In cases like this, the issue often points to a caching or optimization conflict that behaves differently for logged in users.
Could you please try the following and then check again?
- Purge both site level and server level cache (If available) from LiteSpeed
- Temporarily disable LiteSpeed and Jetpack
- Clear your browser cache (press cmd/ctrl + Shift + R all together) and recheck
- Try to Log in using an incognito or private window and observe the issue again
This should help rule out any caching or optimization layer affecting logged in sessions.
If the problem still persists after trying this, please share a short screen recording showing the issue from the logged in view. That would help us understand exactly what is happening and investigate further from our side.
Looking forward to your update, and thanks again for your patience.
Hi @flatword,
Just following up here since we have not heard back from you yet.
Could you please let us know if clearing the site and browser cache made any difference on your end? After reloading and checking again, the duplicated links on our side are still retaining their tags correctly, as shown in the screen recording we shared earlier.
Whenever you get a chance, an update would really help us understand how things are behaving for you. Looking forward to your response, and happy to continue digging into this with you.
Hi @flatword ,
Just following up on my previous message. I still have not been able to reproduce the behavior on my end, so I would need a bit more detail to investigate properly.
Could you please share the exact short link where you are seeing this and the destination URL it redirects to? That would really help me test the same setup and understand what is happening before the redirect.
I’ll be happy to look into it as soon as I have that information. Looking forward to your reply, it will help a lot.
Hi @flatword ,
We’ve checked the issue on our end and also recorded a short screen video to verify it. As you can see from the recording, duplicated links are retaining their tags correctly on our side : https://d.pr/v/Y48kIt
Could you please clear your site and browser cache, then reload the page and check the duplicated links again? Sometimes cached data can cause this behavior to appear even when things are working correctly.
Please let us know the result after checking.
Hi Billy,
No worries at all. That makes sense, and thanks for letting me know.
Whenever you’re back in BetterLinks and if you notice anything odd again, feel free to open a new ticket and we will be happy to take a look right away. Hopefully everything behaves normally next time, but we are here if it does not.
Thanks again, and have a good one.
Hello again @programmin
Thanks for sharing the details. That really helps. We’ll investigate this on our end and get back to you as soon as we have an update. It may take a bit of digging, especially with the newer PHP version, but we’re on it.
In the meantime, if you notice anything else or run into another issue, please let us know.
Hello @flatword
Really sorry for the confusion this has caused.BetterLinks itself does not display any logo or visual element before a redirect. The redirect happens at the server level, so under normal circumstances it should be completely invisible to visitors. If a logo is appearing briefly, it is most likely coming from your site, for example a theme level loader, a caching or optimization plugin, or a script that runs before any response is completed. That said, this is just an assumption at this stage.
To help us understand what is happening, could you please share the short URL you are using, the intended destination URL, and ideally a short screen recording showing the behavior you are seeing. With that, we can take a closer look and point you in the right direction.
Thanks for your patience, and we will do our best to help you sort this out.
Hi @programmin,
We haven’t heard back from you for a few days.
When you get a chance, please let us know which PHP version your site is running and share your site info. That will help us continue checking this properly.
Thanks for your understanding.
