In reply to: Failure to Upload Header ImageHi Christi,
Busy day today. I wasn’t able to check my file permissions, even with the help of the agent at Go Daddy. He said they don’t use numbers like 755 as such. What they have in permission files, such as “read,” “write,” etc., correspond to such numbers, but he was unable to find his “cheat sheet” that shows the correspondences. Strange. In my wp-content folder, “write” wasn’t checked, but he said if I hadn’t fooled with the settings, and I hadn’t, then the defaults should be accurate. I mentioned that another agent told me that strange things can happen during the transition from a wordpress folder to the root folder, thinking that maybe an “unchecking” was one of them, but he didn’t think so. I could experiment, but at his suggestion I tried to upload a different image, and it worked. That suggests that something was wrong with the image I was trying to upload, but it’s the one that was in the header up to the point of the shift to my root folder, and I tried another version of it just now, still with no success, so I still don’t know what’s going on.
Thanks for checking up!

In reply to: Failure to Upload Header ImageHi Christi,
I’ll look into this. Thanks!

In reply to: Disappearing Header ImageOkay, removing “wordpress/” wherever it appeared solved most of the issues; I got one image that appears on all the pages and all the songs back. However, the image that appeared in the header on all four pages is still missing, replaced by a question mark. There is no code for that image on the individual pages (that I see, at least), and I couldn’t find anything that looked useful in the header.php in the editor of wordpress-admin. I tried to upload it again from my desktop, but the attempt failed.
Also, when I press the add to cart button for one of the songs on the music page, another song appear in the cart,–as it does, by the way, when I press the button under its own title further down the list. When I try to add two other songs to the cart, I get a message saying “This product combination does not exist.” The other songs appear in the shopping cart as they should. Finally, when I tried to upload another song, the system wouldn’t allow it.
Do you have any ideas what may be going on?

In reply to: Disappearing Header ImageThe agent at Go Daddy told me it wasn’t a good idea and that people don’t have web sites with /wordpress at the end. I’m a relative newcomer to Word Press, so I took him at his word.
The song-snippets are stored locally, and the full versions are hosted by E-Junkie. I uploaded the snippets and the images from my desktop through the dashboard. I suspect that’s not what you meant by where they are stored and how I linked to them. Where do I find the links? Thanks for your help.

In reply to: Disappearing Header ImageI refreshed the cache on both computers and nothing happened, save that I lost an image in the body of each page when I brought up the site on the other computer. It’s still there on my own computer.

In reply to: Disappearing Header ImageDoes this mean emptying the cache? I see no control for refreshing it (Safari). Also, I discovered that my song files, while visible, do not play (get the wrong page message), and the add to cart buttons don’t work. This is strange, because I tried a song before I hung up from the conversation with the Go Daddy agent, and it worked fine.

In reply to: Failure to Send in Contact Form 7I figured it out. I think the final problem was a } instead of a ]. In any case, I can send and receive email now. Thanks for the form.

In reply to: Failure to Send in Contact Form 7I just deactivated Akismet and was able to send and receive a message to my website’s email address from my own computer. However, when I tried to send a message to the site from another computer, I still got the “Failure to send your message” message.

In reply to: Failure to Send in Contact Form 7I checked the site as well as the update and followed the directions, but I still cannot receive email from another computer on my contact form or send it; I get the “Failed to send” message in the red box in both cases.
Oddly, when I followed the directions and sent a test message to our other Mac from within the settings page (I believe that is where I was at the time) it did arrive. But I still can’t send from my contact form.

In reply to: Audio for PCs as well as MacsThat must mean that my daughter’s laptop doesn’t have an appropriate mp3 player. I’ll check. Thanks.

In reply to: Disabling right-click downloadsI do offer snippets of two songs on my homepage, but not of those on the music page (which includes full versions of the two on the homepage). Thinking aloud, I guess I could offer snippets of all of them, while the full songs would remain available for sale on E-Junkie, where they would be as secure, I suppose, as anywhere online. I just wanted people to be able to hear each entire song before deciding whether to buy or not. For example, one of the best parts of the Seventies song (located on both my home page and music page) is toward the end and couldn’t be part of a true snippet.

In reply to: Audio for PCs as well as MacsMy website is proliferousrose.com/wordpress. The song files are indeed mp3s. I’m hosting them on E-Junkie.
