In reply to: Difference between save and publich ?that’s right. As well, if you’ve already published something and you update it and click save, your modifications will be published. Always review your post-status check boxes. You can alwasy take a post down by checking draft if you accidentally post, although the feed will have been pinged out if you’re using the auto-pinger for new posts.

In reply to: Commens always “0”I have created a few spoof users to generate comments in an attempt to test the system, and they turn up “o” regardless.
Also, I have updated to the most recent SK — are you saying there is an additional ‘fix’ required on top of that? That being the case, it clearly is a SK related problem: turning off the plugin simply fixes it all together.
I wonder if Askimet is sufficient, or if i need to hassle further.

In reply to: Commens always “0”That was the case, but upgrading didn’t solve the problem — at least with the preset config in the new SK.
I also have a problem with my track back link that i just noticed. It takes me to a blank page with this notice:
“OK
The document has moved here.[<– ‘here’ hypertexted]Apache/1.3.33 Server at http://www.ernharth.com Port 80″
The trackback url has the correct page url for the individual post with a /trackback/ end to it. When you click the ‘here’ hypertext, it takes you to the URL without the /trackback/ end, which shows the trackbacks.
Are these perhaps related?? I was about to post up a second request for help…

A third party wysiwyg html table creator might work, then cut and paste….
I’m testing NVU right now. Cut and paste seems to work easily, but its not ideal…

In reply to: GoDaddy “Economy Plan” and WPI have never had problems with permalinks and GoDaddy.
They changed to a new dashboard about 6 mos ago that ties in pretty well to manaual SQL DB backup — you just need to know how to do it (which is covered in the 2.0++ wp update directions).
I’ve used teh WP 2.0++ backup plugin, and backup is now a cakewalk.
I think a more than a few problems come from folks (myself included) not being pros with looking under the hood on this stuff. We want to drive the car, but to have a nice site with WP, we have to learn how to tinker under the hood — which will always be imperfect for the blogger who is not really a programmer.

In reply to: Comments Don’t Take…My problem is resolved — I didn’t see this thread from before, which suggests a few things, including checking to see if a plugin is the cause. In my case it was –“span assasin” — no longer needed anyway with Askimet.
The thread that helped me has a few other suggestions, too.

(FYI — I used the WP support search not realizing that the way to search support is now via the main search engines, as noted in the perma-sticky topic on searching at the top of the forums. Using google i found this is a well worn topic when i previously found nothing š ooops!)
