In reply to: Changing blog address messes up uploads URLsAnd the permalink problem is solved by changing the .htaccess permissions.
My first query still stands though: How do you stop the upload links breaking when renaming your WP directory? If anyone knows, it’d be great to find out.
It is of course quite possible that I was doing something wrong!

In reply to: Republish entire blogMaybe you’re having a similar problem to me – try changing the permalink structure in Options -> Permalinks back to the default and see what happens.

In reply to: Changing blog address messes up uploads URLsAh – so this is a permalink problem.
It works (as it is now) using the ugly format, but even if I update my .htaccess file once I’ve reset it to the format I want, it stops working again. Doesn’t look like a very serious problem though.
I’m still confused about how you’re meant to change the address of your blog when you have a large number of uploads though. Hmm.

In reply to: Virus Found: HTML/Framer. Nasty.Sorry.
I’m pretty new to this, I searched the forum and didn’t find a solution. I’ve had a few questions on this answered and they haven’t worked – I’ve been getting a bit desperate. It’s a little unfair to say it needs little more than common sense but I understand that there’s nothing much that anyone can do with the info I’ve provided.
I’ll read up on WP forum protocol & security in more detail.
Thanks for your reply.

In reply to: Virus Found: HTML/Framer. Nasty. Thanks jennaishealed… tried that but it didn’t work.
Instead I went to GeeksToGo and used their help forum to completely clean my machine.
By the time I’d got back online, the index page of my account had been hacked, and my WordPress account’s index page had been hacked. I have replaced the files, changed my password again, but to be honest I don’t think this will do much to prevent it seeing as it didn’t prevent it before.
I can’t change my permissions to anything but 777. This is an enduring problem – whenever I try, I cannot do anything in my control panel.
Please, please can anyone help with this? I’ve followed the security tutorial on this site, but it’s still not working.

In reply to: Permissions and compat.phpRight, sorted… some files/folders in the wp-includes directory were set at 744.
I’ll just have to be a bit more careful in the future…

In reply to: Permissions and compat.php… and the blog no longer works at all.
It’s still under construction so it’s not being viewed by anyone yet.

In reply to: ‘Troj/Unif-B’ trojanI have just been told that my blog holds the same virus, a malicious JavaScript that re-directs browsers to other malicious sites. It is hosted by 3iX, so I have notified them to see whether there has been a repeat.
Thought I’d let people know in case this is spreading.
