Sounds similar to my ticket https://wordpress.org/support/topic/hanging-ajax-on-save/ I see loading dots on RSVP submit forever… Theme in use and other plugins in use make no difference.
I believe this fix in 2.0.1 resolved the issue I was seeing, thank you.

Fix : Remove empty inline style tags
Ok, that’s not good. We are on a server with many sites and a legacy PHP version 5.3.3. Will have to discuss moving some sites unless the minimum version can be lowered. WordPress published minimum is 5.2.4+ https://wordpress.org/about/requirements/
Thank you. Rolling back has restored access to our wp-admin dashboard. Please advise when it will be safe to update again.
