  • Hi @jperson19468,

    Thank you for the update.

I’m glad to hear that the issue has been resolved after configuring the WP Mail SMTP plugin.

It’s great to know that the emails from WP Statistics are now being delivered properly.

I will go ahead and mark this as resolved.

If you have any further questions or need assistance in the future, feel free to reach out.

    Best regards,
    Mehmet

    Hi @tim-reeves,

Thank you for your kind words and for using WP Statistics!

We appreciate you reaching out with your question.

The hook wp_statistics_add_visit_hook is automatically scheduled to run daily.
It’s internally linked to the add_visit_event method of the Schedule class.

This configuration is handled entirely within the plugin.
There’s no need to manually associate an action with this hook in WP Crontrol.

The same applies to the following hooks:

    • wp_statistics_dbmaint_hook
    • wp_statistics_referrerspam_hook
    • wp_statistics_referrals_db_hook

Each of these is already connected to its corresponding function in the plugin’s codebase.

WP Crontrol might not display the internal connections established by the plugin,
but rest assured, everything is working as expected behind the scenes.

If you have any other questions, feel free to let us know!

    Best regards,
    Mehmet

    Best regards,

    Hi @horsepowerphoto,

I’ve shared this issue with our team for further investigation.

In the meantime, we need a bit more information to better understand what’s happening.

Could you please check whether the tracker.js file is working correctly on your site?

You can follow the steps in this documentation to verify:

    https://wp-statistics.com/resources/troubleshoot-the-tracker/

Thank you for your patience and cooperation!

    Best regards,
    Mehmet

    Dear @ebturner,

Thank you for reaching out and sharing the details regarding the issue you’re experiencing with WP Statistics.

We would like to clarify that our plugin, WP Statistics, does not include any feature that would display a “PRO version” advertisement or flash of code in the header of your website. This may suggest that there could be another plugin or script on your website causing this behaviour.

We recommend verifying if any other plugins or custom scripts are responsible for this issue.

If the issue persists, please don’t hesitate to share any further details, and we would be happy to assist you in resolving this matter.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

    Best regards,
    Mehmet

    Hi @ludz899 ,

    Thank you for reaching out.

Here are a few steps you can take to help identify what might be affecting the tracking:

    1. Ensure you’re using the latest version of WP Statistics. Please update the plugin to the most recent release.
    2. Caching or plugin conflicts might be affecting the tracking. Try excluding the tracker.js file from caching.
    3. Deactivate other plugins temporarily, leaving only WP Statistics active, to see if this resolves the issue.
    4. Ad blockers could potentially be affecting the tracking, as they might block WP Statistics’ tracking script. It’s worth testing by disabling ad blockers or checking if some users with ad blockers enabled are not being tracked correctly.
    5. Known bots and crawlers are excluded by WP Statistics but may still be included by Google Analytics, which could explain some of the discrepancy in numbers.
    6. Finally, check your browser’s console for any errors, and also review the logs for additional insights.

Please let us know if these steps help or if you notice any changes.

    Best regards,
    Mehmet

    Hi @horsepowerphoto

I’ve shared this with our development team for further investigation and a more in-depth review.

We appreciate your patience while we look into this, and we’ll get back to you as soon as we have an update.

    Best regards,
    Mehmet

    Hi There,

Thank you for your patience, and I apologize for the delay in getting back to you.

We appreciate you sharing the screenshots and the comparisons.

There are a few things that might be causing the difference in stats:

    1. Please check if the IP addresses you’ve excluded in WP Statistics are also excluded in Matomo. This could explain why some visits aren’t recorded.
    2. Try disabling the “Do Not Track (DNT)” option temporarily and see if that changes the visitor count.
    3. If you’re using a caching plugin, make sure that tracker.js is excluded from being cached. Caching this file can prevent it from working correctly.

Let us know the results after trying these steps.

    Best regards,
    Mehmet

    Hi @peq42,

Thank you for sharing the details and screenshots.

There are a few reasons why WP Statistics might show different numbers compared to other services:

Please check if “Bypass Ad Blockers” is enabled.
It helps track users with ad blockers, which services like Cloudflare or Google might miss.
    You can find it here:
Statistics > Settings > General > Bypass Ad Blockers

Also, see if “Do Not Track (DNT)” is turned on.
If it’s off, WP Statistics might still count users who prefer not to be tracked.
    The setting is here:
Statistics > Settings > Privacy & Data Protection > Do Not Track (DNT)

Finally, it might be related to bot filtering.
Some bots not blocked in the plugin settings can be counted as visitors.
    Check this under:
    Statistics > Settings > Filtering & Exceptions

Let us know if adjusting these helps.

    Best regards,
    Mehmet

    Hi @mvittel,

    Thank you for reaching out,

The error message you’re seeing indicates that your site has run out of the allowed PHP memory during the update process. This is not directly caused by the WP Statistics plugin code itself, but rather by a limitation set in your server’s PHP configuration.

Here are a few suggestions to resolve this:
    1. You can try increasing the memory limit by adding the following line to your wp-config.php file, just before the line that says /* That's all, stop editing! */:

    define('WP_MEMORY_LIMIT', '512M');

    2. If the change above doesn’t help or is not allowed by your hosting setup, please reach out to your hosting provider and ask them to increase the PHP memory limit for your site.

Once the memory limit is increased, please try updating WP Statistics again.
Let us know if the problem persists—we’re happy to assist further.

    Best regards,
    Mehmet

    Hi @the5krunner,

    Thank you for reaching out.

Please accept our apologies for the delayed response.

Regarding your question about tracking internal vs external clicks:
You can achieve this using our Data Plus add-on.
With this add-on, external link clicks are tracked directly when users click on them on your website.
You’ll be able to see the total number of clicks for each external URL.
There is also a date filter, so you can view the data for any specific period you’re interested in.

Also, you mentioned that there are some minor bugs when changing the time series in the charts.
Could you please let us know more details about the issue you’re experiencing?

We’d be happy to investigate and fix it.

    Best regards,
    Mehmet

    Dear @fly_in_the_sky ,

    Thank you for the update.

Just to confirm, have you tried disabling the W3 Total Cache plugin temporarily to see if that changes anything?

It seems that this plugin might still minify all files, and sometimes the exclude setting doesn’t fully apply. Please also make sure to purge the cache after updating the settings.

Regarding your question — if everything seems to be working fine and stats are updating correctly, then it shouldn’t be a concern.

Let us know how things go on your end.

    Best regards,
    Mehmet

    Dear @fly_in_the_sky,

    Thank you for the update.

The issue seems to be caused by W3 Total Cache. This plugin may be caching, minifying or combining the tracker.js file, which prevents it from working correctly.

To fix this, please exclude tracker.js from being cached or minified in your W3 Total Cache settings.

Also, to confirm whether W3 Total Cache is the source of the issue, we recommend temporarily disabling the plugin and clearing the cache, then checking if the tracking works properly.

Let us know the results so we can assist you further.

    Best regards,
    Mehmet

Please update to the latest version and let us know if the problem is resolved on your end.

    Best regards,
