Decided to give this plugin a try again after the latest update to see if it helped the problem. I am pleased to announce that it did fix the shortcode inconsistency problem I was seeing. However I am still seeing other numbers that just do not add up.

For reference, the other stats package I have confirms that there was 10 visits to the site from 10 unique visitors. The numbers just do not add up with this plugin. If there was 1 person who viewed 2 things, how did the help wanted article get 9 views?

Another comparison. On the left, WP Statistics. On the right, Matomo. As you can see, from the list of visitors that matomo picked up, WP Stats only picked up the visit at 9:32am

    Dear @horsepowerphoto,

We’re glad to hear you gave our plugin another try!

Regarding your first inquiry, please note that the number of “Views” is calculated based on the total number of times a post has been visited and does not represent unique views. For example, if a visitor views a post 10 times, the number of Views will be recorded as 10, not 1.

That said, the report indicates that the post “Help Wanted!” was viewed 9 times that day.

As for the visitor not being recorded, could you please check the following settings?

    • Filtering & Exceptions settings: Active exclusions might be preventing all visitors from being recorded.
    • Do Not Track (DNT) option (Statistics > Settings > Privacy & Data Protection): Being enabled, it respects the visitor’s browser setting to not track their web activity
    • Main IP Detection Method: Found under Statistics > Settings > Advanced Options.
    • Bypass Ad Blockers (Statistics > Settings > General > Tracker Configuration)

    Dear @horsepowerphoto,

Just wanted to follow up and let you know that in version 14.13, we discovered an issue related to ad blockers, which could prevent some visits from being recorded correctly.

We’ve addressed this issue in version 14.13.1, so everything should be working as expected now.

Please update to the latest version and let us know if the problem is resolved on your end.

    Best regards,
    Mehmet

So, I ran stats for a couple of days. Attached is the difference between the 2 stats packages. So far today, matomo recorded 5 visitors. WP Stats did not record any. Also attached is the screen shots of my configs..

    Hi There,

Thank you for your patience, and I apologize for the delay in getting back to you.

We appreciate you sharing the screenshots and the comparisons.

There are a few things that might be causing the difference in stats:

    1. Please check if the IP addresses you’ve excluded in WP Statistics are also excluded in Matomo. This could explain why some visits aren’t recorded.
    2. Try disabling the “Do Not Track (DNT)” option temporarily and see if that changes the visitor count.
    3. If you’re using a caching plugin, make sure that tracker.js is excluded from being cached. Caching this file can prevent it from working correctly.

Let us know the results after trying these steps.

    Best regards,
    Mehmet

    Hi @horsepowerphoto,

I’ve shared this issue with our team for further investigation.

In the meantime, we need a bit more information to better understand what’s happening.

Could you please check whether the tracker.js file is working correctly on your site?
