In reply to: [NextGEN Gallery Voting] [Plugin: NextGEN Gallery Voting] Vote in LightboxJust a bump to add that I think this would be excellent to have available, especially given how popular NextGEN, NextGEN Voting, and lightbox viewers have become.
Thanks as always for the plugin thus far Shauno, 5 star work! 🙂
Heheh, I believe I do know what you are saying. 😉
+1 to you.
The Custom fields plugin update is available, loaded it myself and all is well once more, everything is where/how it should be.
Compliments to Shaun for a speedy fix, thanks for sorting this out! :))))

Hi Lydia,
saw you posted on my similar thread. Just thought I’d inform that I followed your ‘…/=upgrade’ link above and got a simple “databse upgraded” message.
Sorry to hear you got the dreaded Internal Server Error, hope this feedback helps in some way towards a fix.
@shauno: Yup, the upgrade overwrite would definitely correspond with when I updated NGG, and today upgraded to v1.7.0 with no luck/change.
@lydiamunoz: That’s exactly what my situation is re: “my inputs to add custom fields in control panel don’t appear in each image, it appears in each gallery”. it’s a bummer to say the least, think we’ll have to wait for NGG CF to update with a fix.
Hopefully the data will be preserved once the fix is done, I’m up to about 900 images, half with data I’d like to obviously keep.
The data however is there and active, if you check the pics on this page, (via the lightbox viewer) you’ll see the title under the photo, then a “Related Tags” field. That’s the Custom Field in action.
Sorry, slight clarification: I uploaded new fotos in the linked gallery, so since the old pics have data in thier custom fields, they will display the “Foto Tag” data/links.
Forget also that I said “Related Tags” in the quote above, I meant “Foto Tags”… late night typing eh?…

In reply to: NextGEN Gallery Without Flash on IPad?I don’t know about the slideshow function, but when using a lightbox-type viewer and wanting ipad viewing, it comes down to the viewer itself.
http://planetozh.com/projects/lightbox-clones/ givies a listing of what lightbox viewers do what, maybe this will help.
FWIW, I use Floatbox on my site and have seen it display as it should on iphone (so should also do ipad). My advice from experience is to try a few and see what works best for you.
I also make sure to avoid flash whenever possible (the only reason you won’t see a slideshow link, which floatbox does regardless), partly for SEOs, partly for ipad, partly because I find it frustrating to hack anyways.
Thanks for the feedback Craig, as well as patience with the rest of us jonesing for this patchs’ functions.
No love for the feedback?
[test page link]
Files are installed, patch activaed (slug is ‘fotosets’), cache cleared etc, and yet sadly no visible changes in the source code. Also, disabled the Nextgen SEO Titles plugin to minimize possible conflict or confusion.I am presuming I’m looking for ”
- img title=
” to every thumb. Please inform if I’m mistaken on that, that has been what I’ve noticed is different about your sample pages.
Could it be that code mods for a Nextgen Custom Field in my custom gallery.php is interfering? My php buddy moved stuff around, so if there’s any reference to gallery.php I’d need to know which code it’s looking for.
Hope this is of help.
Craig, you’re awesome for adding towards further improvement of NextGen, especially in the SEO gap. Gold star!
I’ll run it through my site over the next couple of days and post up some feedback. Since I use a host of extra Nextgen plugins (Tag Search v0.6, Custom fields, Voting, SEO Titles), could be interesting to see if it all plays nice.
If I may ask, would this hack/eventual patch then eliminate need for the Nextgen SEO Titles plugin? One less plug-y to deal with is always good.

In reply to: NextGEN Gallery Search Engine Feedback ForumWell, to get the ball rolling further…
Another nice option would be to exclude certain galleries from search, either in the gallery options itself or on the search admin page.

In reply to: Best way to replace built-in comments with Facebook ones?Sorry, to clarify on Disqus: When disqus is used, I believe it posts what the user commented onto thier profile.
In fact (as far as I can tell), most facebook-related plugins should show activity a user does on your site on thier facebook page. That’s part of the whole game of Facebook.

In reply to: Best way to replace built-in comments with Facebook ones?Ahh, I dig… Diggy. :p
Well, then as far as I know, Simple Facebook Connect is your best way to go.
If there’s something you want to do with Facebook and it’s possible, SFC will have it. It has so many options it can choke you. I use it for the ‘like’ button on my site (sample), and plan to active more of it as I find time.
On the other side, Disqus uses facebook logins (and others as mentioned), but if you really want to exploit F’book, go with SFC.
Disclaimer: I’m no pro coder, so no guarantee it’s a final solution. Also, since some things are called via facebook, do make sure to check they don’t cripple your pageload time.
Hope it helps. 🙂
