Recently upgraded my NextGen Gallery setup as well as WP to the latest release, seems the Nextgen Custom Fields (via the plugin of the same name) don't display a field for images any more.
The data however is there and active, if you check the pics on this page, (via the lightbox viewer) you'll see the title under the photo, then a "Related Tags" field. That's the Custom Field in action.
Screenshot is here, normally therte would be a "Primary tags" field.
Many thanks for help to fix this! :)

Sorry, slight clarification: I uploaded new fotos in the linked gallery, so since the old pics have data in thier custom fields, they will display the "Foto Tag" data/links.
Forget also that I said "Related Tags" in the quote above, I meant "Foto Tags"... late night typing eh?...
You've updated NGG. That means the NGG display template that you had to add the tag to has been overwritten to the latest version, and no longer has the tag.
Either that or the latest NGG has something that makes it incompatible with NGG CF. But I doubt that...

shauno I think NGG has something that makes it incompatible withc NGG CF, because my inputs to add custom fields in control panel don't appear in each image, it appears in each gallery. Do you know a solution? I think is a problem with database. I have tried run the URL http://www.example.com/wp-admin/admin.php?page=nextgen-gallery-custom-fields/ngg-custom-fields.php&mode=upgrade and it doesn't appear a message saying my database is upload. Maybe it helps you to sort it out. Do you think we will have a solutions? I don't know if waiting or find another solutions without NGG CF.
Thanks!

@Shauno: Yup, the upgrade overwrite would definitely correspond with when I updated NGG, and today upgraded to v1.7.0 with no luck/change.
@lydiamunoz: That's exactly what my situation is re: "my inputs to add custom fields in control panel don't appear in each image, it appears in each gallery". it's a bummer to say the least, think we'll have to wait for NGG CF to update with a fix.
Hopefully the data will be preserved once the fix is done, I'm up to about 900 images, half with data I'd like to obviously keep.

I hope it solves @Shauno!

The Custom fields plugin update is available, loaded it myself and all is well once more, everything is where/how it should be.
Compliments to Shaun for a speedy fix, thanks for sorting this out! :))))
Thank modern medicine Andy :)

I just started building my site, and saw the help this plugin would give me, but when I installed it I got the same problem as you have had.
I am glad there is an update, but thing is I can't find it if it exists. I have version 1.1.1 and things are the same as ever. What could I do now?
Thanks for the good work shauno, and thanks in before for help. :)

I have the same problem as winterspree. I'm using NextGen Gallery 1.7.2 and NGG Custom Fields 1.1.1 and my image custom fields appear in the gallery list and not in the images list. Gallery custom fields do not appear anywhere.
Sorry guys, I screwed up 1.1.1 by making a change that I didn't test. 1.1.2 should work again.
Modern medicine can make me feel great, but it also makes be high as a kite :)
