In reply to: [Caldera Forms - More Than Contact Forms] Spam Prevention Not Working?Russian spam is bypassing normal form submission. I have tried numerous spam prevention plugins and used the Caldera forms recaptcha v3, but no change. The submissions go to my email, but don’t show up in the submitted form entries.
It somehow seems like a critical security issue if these bots can bypass normal submission protocols. I changed the contact form page URL this morning to see if that helps, but that may affect backlinks from some of my other sites.
Any ideas out there how to prevent the Russian spam attack? This same error: “We have detected that a script is generating uniquely named files which results in our combined assets taking up huge amount of disk space” still comes up on my Site Ground site: https://store.sprayliningandcoatings.com after doing everything I can think of or find posted. I have a staging site set up, and disabled all the plugins except SG Optimizer, and even turned off most of the functions in Divi theme. Flushed the cache, reloaded page, etc.
Any other ideas?Forum: Themes and Templates
In reply to: [MaxStore] Select Options not working rightAfter playing with more options, I found that deselecting “Enable AJAX add to cart buttons on archives” resolves the issue.
I still feel that the “Pro” version at $49 per year really needs work and significant improvement. The products do not scale properly for various devices, the options to customize are few, the overall theme is dated.Same problem as abqdanj. After update, the site is inaccessible with http 500 error. The PHP version is 5.4 (I know… minimum of 5.6 is recommended these days, but the hosting site is also home to some static html and old Opencart CMS that doesn’t like 5.6.
Anyway… nothing I see which says the plugin doesn’t work on 5.4, but at least on my site, it does not. Had to rename the plugin directory so that WP would deactivate the plugin in order to bring site up.
Just tried the most recent update, and although it does not break the view entirely of my home page (with gallery display in widget area) like 2.0 did, the gallery display is not correct.
when I select a photo view versus slideshow, it works, but if I log out and check my site as a guest, it never displays the slideshow (just a spinning circle) Tried various combinations of browsers, refreshing screen, and emptying the W3 cache, but no combination works.
I went back to 1.9.13 and all works fine now.
If any of the developers want to see how my sit presents on a normal basis, you can check it at: http://floridanatureguide.comSame as somedroid…been using 2.1.17 for awhile with no trouble. Ever since the introduction of 3.xx.xx, the backups do not work without tweaking. I went back to the 2.x version for all my sites and just recently figured I would try 3.0.12 to see if it would work out of the box. No luck… backups fail by default settings.
What worked before and still seems to be the answer for me is to go to “settings” then choose the “jobs” tab (not the “jobs” from the main selection.. then next to “Method for creating ZIP archive” select PclZip.
Don’t really know why ZipArchive doesn’t work since it is the method being used on previous version, but no backup works on any of my sites unless I set this option.
Personally, I don’t trust a plugin upgrade which doesn’t work with default settings, so I will wait to “upgrade” my other sites until it seems the ZipArchive works properly.
The stated difference between the two methods compression is that PclZip requires more memory but only opens two files at a time and ZipArchive uses less memory but has many files open at a time.
Hope this update helps some folks…
The latest version (before 2.0.0)can be pulled at: http://downloads.wordpress.org/plugin/nextgen-gallery.1.9.13.zip
Anyone trying to fix the problem with rolling back Nextgen may be interested in this post here on WP http://wordpress.org/support/topic/overloaded-nextgen-gallerycom
I had the same problem with the latest update breaking my site home page and just wanted to post a work around which may help some.
First… If you can’t log in from your home page, select: (site name)/wp-admin
The next steps require that you have previously saved an earlier version. You can download the previous version at: http://downloads.wordpress.org/plugin/nextgen-gallery.1.9.13.zipSecond… Install and activate Easy Theme and Plugin Updater from WordPress http://downloads.wordpress.org/plugin/easy-theme-and-plugin-upgrades.1.0.1.zip
Third… Install the earlier NextGen Gallery with the upload function, but select the update current version box.
The problem (or at least my problem) is with the gallery display, so removing any shortcode calling a gallery may also fix your site temporarily.
While it may not be the best idea to roll back a version, if you have the problem with this defective as installed version of Next Generation Gallery I had, this roll-back may be your quickest fix.
Klikerko,
Just curious… what is the size of your backup on the sites (that is… when it was working)?
My backup on the test site is 40some meg (not real large since it is primarily a basic WP install for testing).
Just wondering if there is some kind of timing issue.
Anyone reviewing this thread may be interested in the following update involving BackWPup not working after the 3.x.x release. I have really liked this plugin to provide automatic backups of my website, and therefore spent some time trying more experimenting on a test site today (3/19/2013).
Background on my problem:
Version 2.1.17 works fine… no problems and backs up in about 1 minute.
Upgrade to any 3.x.x version gets to creating ZipArchive and just hangs around 70-75% depending on version and other backup settings.I tried just about every setting I could, and finally found one that seems to be the culprit on my site. The problem in my case appears to be with the ZipArchive compression function. If the plugin is set for “Auto” or “ZipArchive”, it tries to make a ZipArchive type of backup and hangs. If changed to PclZip, it works every time in a little less time than the previous version.
To resolve issue with timeout on backups, try this:
• Under “BackWPup” , select “Settings”
• From the “BackWPup Settings” Menu, select “Jobs” tab
• From the Jobs tab, look for “Method for creating ZIParchive” and change to “PclZip”
• Save your settings and try it againI’m not sure about some of the other new settings, and not sure why the auto select function defaults to ZipArchive since the previous version of BackWPup used PclZip for backups, but my main goal was to make it work. I look forward to the next update and hope it resolves this bug.
Just an update to all… I just installed the 2.1.17 plugin on a test site of mine, configured and executed BackWPup. It ran fine with and execution time of 66 sec.
After upgrading to the latest (ver 3.0.6), the manual backup fails still. I was all excited when it passed 70% (after creating the Ziparchive), but hangs at 75%. I didn’t bother waiting until it timed out, but this is the step it always seems to hang at:[14-Mar-2013 17:23:13] 1. Trying to create backup archive …
[14-Mar-2013 17:23:13] Compression method is ZipArchivePlugin still fails to function properly. If any of the developers on this thread would like it, I can start it, and just give it the time to fully fail. After that, I can upload and post a link to the log file.
In the meantime, I would have to say the plugin update is still broken.
Just to update on the broken BackWPup plugin, I continued to see what I could do to resolve my failing backups. No resolution I could find by adjusting settings on the new interface. Backups still hang. The reviews indicate that this update is a failed update pretty much all around.
Restoring the plugin from a previous backup did not seem to work for some reason, and the last version I had downloaded was version 2.1.13 (the latest before version 3.0 was 2.1.17). I did find it on WordPress for download though (see below).
For those who would like to roll back to a functional version, my temporary work around was to confirm my manual settings (directories to exclude, backup location, etc), remove the plugin (be sure your backup location is not in a directory under the backwpup folder, or you will loose those backups)and re-install the plugin by downloading the earlier version (you can pull from the WordPress archive at: http://downloads.wordpress.org/plugin/backwpup.2.1.17.zip ). You will have to reconfigure after install, and you will loose your logs, but the earlier backups will still be available if you observe the note above.
Hopefully this plugin will be fixed soon, but be sure that I will try on a test site before upgrading BackWPup in the future.
