right… once I have resaved my settings, with “new mode” enabled, should the spritegen directory be empty?
“spritegen_default” contains a 223,903 byte “sprite.png” and a few other files, but the “spritegen” directory is empty.
I have set the permissions to 775 (and then I tried 777) but still nothing appears in “spritegen”.
Also, when I turn on the “like button-set”, the gap where SexyBookmarks is supposed to be on my blog posts becomes larger (as if it’s making room for the buttons), but still nothing appears.
It therefore looks like the plugin is running and has a slot to appear in on the pages… it’s just that its slot is empty.
Does this give any more clues?
I know my web host is relatively security conscious, so it’s possible that some of the utilities or tools SexyBookmarks is using to generate a sprite are not working properly…
Please let me know your thoughts.
Also, did you have time to install the “Arjuna X” theme to test against? It has to be a weird incompatibility with this theme because if I use another theme with all the same plugins ENABLED, SexyBookmarks works fine.
Yep… tried all of those. Not fixed it unfortunately.
Do you have a blog internally you could stick “Arjuna X” onto to test? It wouldn’t take long to install and enable the theme (assuming you already have a test wordpress install somewhere, of course)…
I still haven’t had time to test disabling all the plugins but leaving Arjuna-X enabled, but my point is that even if I do and it proves that one of the plugins is causing it, it still doesn’t tell us anything, because if I leave all the plugins enabled but use a different theme it still works, so we still wouldn’t know if it was the theme or the plugin.
Does that make sense?
I agree… if I disable a plugin while using “Arjuna-X” it looks like it’s that plugin that’s breaking it.
But also, if I leave all plugins enabled and I disable “Arjuna-X” it works. So that makes it look like the theme is breaking it.
We’re still none the wiser… whether I test it or not.
very true… the only trouble is, if I find that “Plugin A” breaks it, i’ll be no closer to the answer…
If I disable “Plugin A”, Sexybookmarks starts working.
If I disable the “Arjuna X” theme it also starts working. With one of them enabled and the other disabled (in either order) Sexybookmarks works, so which is the cause of it breaking??
I guess i’ll just have to try that first…
I have not tried disabling other plugins yet because when I switch to a different theme, it works perfectly in “new mode”.
I therefore assume other plugins are not the problem.
… or could I be wrong with that theory?
yeah, using “old mode” works fine, but then I don’t get the sharing counters and the other extra features… hence why it’s been on old mode ever since an update to the plugin many months ago…
Thanks for the link… i’ve been there already though and done the checks (to the best of my ability at least).
As far as I can tell, everything seems to be in order with my theme according to the FAQ, but I cannot figure out what else is causing it…
anybody?
i’ll stop bumping this topic soon… really, I will. there has to be someone out there who can help though 🙂
can anyone help? Someone out there must use SexyBookmarks with the Arjuna-X theme… that theme was the most popular on the wordpress site at one point!
Or, failing that, do the theme developers (SRS Solutions) read these posts??
Someone out there must know the solution to this one, surely… I’m at a dead end…

In reply to: Upgrade problems 3.2 – McAfee Trojan warningsMay I ask what the alternative plugin was that you used?
Has the alternative proved reliable?
Also, does anyone actually know why this is happening? Is the Exec-PHP plugin broken or malicious, or is it just a weird false-positive due to McAfee being rubbish?
OK, this is now resolved!
Second time I clicked “Proceed now” it worked, and everything is back to normal!! 🙂
How strange…
Also, I’ve tried clicking “Proceed Now…” next to where it says “Create new URL friendly image slugs”, but it gets to 1750 out of 10453 images (slowing down as it gets closer to that number) and never gets any further.
I’m really stuck here! Someone please help! I can’t upload over 10,000 photos again!
Thanks in advance…
I’m also having this problem and have requested help on the developer’s site, here http://we8u.com/2011/03/13/facebook-comments-wordpress-31-released/

In reply to: [Plugin: NextGEN Gallery] Rebuild image structure : sooooo slow…also, alex… i’ve just done as above (clicked “Proceed now”) and it is starting to do the same thing as it did before… the first few hundred are very fast, but it rapidly slows down and get slower, and slower, and slower…
it appears that this feature may be broken for more than 300 images or so… at least for me.
