In reply to: [Firelight Lightbox] Form in lightbox not workingI just pulled up your page to test it myself. For my part, I’m not able to get the Recaptcha to pass. If I try to submit without that, I get an error that I need to complete the Recaptcha.
I assume that’s not what you’re seeing? Assuming not, are you able to complete the Recaptcha? And if you do that and hit submit, what happens exactly?
Not sure if you are a developer and know how to check the dev console. Just right click anywhere on the page, and click ‘inspect’ on the little menu that pops up. The dev tools will open at the bottom. I’d like to know if you see any red error notice down there when you click submit. It looks like this for me: https://d.pr/i/RHCgsm

In reply to: [Firelight Lightbox] Examples please with CaptionsHi @baz74!
The free version supports showing alt text OR the image title attribute, but not full captions. This is the third request in a few weeks, so I think we’ll look at adding it.
The pro version fully supports captions, and you can chose to show title AND/OR alt AND/OR caption. So you can show any of them or all of them, depending on your preferences. You’re right we should add that to the pro demos. 🙂 I will add that later today.
Let me know if you have other questions.

In reply to: [Firelight Lightbox] navigation arrows not workingOh great! Glad it was that simple :). I’m going to go ahead and mark this thread resolved, but feel free to follow up with other questions if you have them!

In reply to: [Firelight Lightbox] navigation arrows not working@lhannahl – One simple check… Can you go to the Lightbox > Window Appearance > ‘Auto scale to fit’ setting and confirm that is checked?

In reply to: [Firelight Lightbox] navigation arrows not workingHi @lhannahl – can you please try setting ‘Automatically group images’ to ‘WordPress galleries’ please? Also be sure to set NextGEN > Other Options > Lightbox Effects to ‘None’ – at least while testing this. I wonder if changing those two settings will get it working.

In reply to: [Firelight Lightbox] Call for Feature RequestsOther potential features on our radar (for free or Pro) that you can comment or vote on:
- Additional lightbox styles. Right now, the free version just offers three very similar versions of Fancybox. We will likely add 1-2 other free lightbox, such as PhotoSwipe or others.
- Display Exif data. This is already in progress. You’ll soon be able to display exif data in the caption area (Camera, Lens, Aperature, Exposure, ISO, etc).
- Image commenting. This is also in progress. There will be a sidebar you can toggle open/closed that will contain an image commenting interface.
- Social sharing. Just a note that this was released (for Pro) a couple week ago.
- More integration with page builder or block plugin galleries. We have done Elementor. Others would include Beaver Builder, Kadence, Spectra, Otter Blocks, etc.
- More integration with other galleries. We have done NextGEN Gallery. Others include Modula, Envira, Photo Gallery, etc.
- WooCommerce integrations.
- Replace custom css classes with block controls. Right now, the plugin often asks users to add custom CSS classes or attributes. That is old school. We’re considering adding simple toggle controls to Image, Gallery, and other blocks to turn the lightbox on or off.
- More and better options for creating and managing popup modals.
- Analytics. Something that shows how many times images have been views in the lightbox (overall total plus per-page totals).
- Open portfolio and other custom post type lists in the lightbox. This would likely include the ability to show details about the portfolio or other item in the sidebar, which would allow you to use custom templates for the content.

In reply to: [Firelight Lightbox] Not working on inline contentGreat! And thanks for the feedback on inline vs options page. I also think this should probably just be enabled by default.

In reply to: [Firelight Lightbox] Not working on inline contentOh, I just thought of one obvious thing here. Can you please be sure that if you to the lightbox settings (look for Lightbox menu item on main dashboard menu), look at the top “Enable” section and be sure you have “Enable for Inline Content” turned on?
That should have been the first thing I suggested.

In reply to: [Firelight Lightbox] navigation arrows not working@lhannahl – thanks for the additional information.
Pick just one. One starting point is that you can either use the NextGEN Gallery version of fancybox, which is great and fine, or you can use this plugin’s version. But if you try to do both, then it will for sure break.
That means you have two options: (1) remove our plugin (or at least disable it for images) and set the NextGEN lightbox to ‘fancybox’. This will use NextGEN’s fancybox or (2) set NextGEN’s lightbox to ‘none’ and rely on our plugin.
Lightbox not working. The issue with option #2 above is that it sounds like our lightbox is not opening your NextGEN images as expected. I can tell from looking at your page that our plugin is not detecting your images and adding the needed attributes. So we need to figure out why.
To troubleshoot, additional questions:
- I’m assuming you are not using Pro?
- Can you confirm you are using the latest version of Firelight / Easy Fancybox (2.3.2)
- Can you confirm which Easy Fancybox / Firelight lightbox you are using (Legacy, Classic, or V2)? If in doubt, try setting this to Classic.
- Can you tell me what you have set on the for the Easy Fancybox / Firelight options screen for Images > Apply To setting (could be All Images or All Image Links). If in doubt, set this to All Images.
- Can you tell me what you have set for Images > Automatically Group Images? This seems like the most likely culprit. Most of these settings should work, but to avoid complexities, avoid the ‘Custom’ setting here.
- Can you confirm that if you go to the Miscellaneous > Exclude setting, you don’t have anything specific entered in that field that would exclude your NextGEN images.
If none of that works, I’m not sure. If you’d like more direct troubleshooting at that point, you can reach out to me at firelightwp.com/contact.

In reply to: [Firelight Lightbox] navigation arrows not workingI also wanted to double check. From your website dashboard, if you go to NextGEN Gallery > Other Options > Lightbox Effects, can you tell me what settings you have there? If it is not already, can you try setting ‘What lightbox would you like to use?’ to ‘None’ and see if that has any effect?

In reply to: [Firelight Lightbox] navigation arrows not workingHi @lhannahl – I can see the issue on your site. Thanks for sharing that link.
I couldn’t quite tell from your description – are you doing anything *custom* with the nav arrows? Or are you just trying to use out-of-the-box settings in our plugin?
Also can you check that you’ve disabled any NextGEN Gallery lightbox (ie, let’s be sure you’re not trying to load fancybox from NextGEN Gallery and from Firelight / Easy Fancybox.
To be clear, if you’re our lightbox with NextGEN and out-of-the-box settings, then this should work, and I’ll be happy to troubleshooting with you until we get it working. In the meantime, I’ll set up a NGG gallery on my site to make sure there hasn’t been any regression with this working.

In reply to: [Firelight Lightbox] Not working on inline contentHi @luxworx,
I just copied your html above, pasted it into a test site here, and it works for me. The modal opens as expected when I click Subscribe.
- When you click Subscribe, is anything at all happening?
- Any chance you can provide me with a link where you’ve added this so I can see it in place?
- I’m wondering if there may be a theme/plugin conflict. As an example, if using Kadence, you need to turn off their ‘scroll to anchor links’ option in the customizer.
Wonderful. Glad it is resolved. Sorry for the issue and thanks again for the report!
@michaelacwp – I just pushed a fix for this in version 2.3.2. Feel free to upgrade and confirm the issue is resolved.
I needed to better check some methods for compatibility with older pro versions. That’s the main issue here. As a rule, I’m hyper attentive to compatibility and backwards compatibility issues, so I’m surprised and sorry I missed this.
Thanks for the report. Glad to get it fixed quickly.
Hi @michaelacwp,
1) Just to confirm, your post is unrelated to original post in this thread (ie, the the escape key not working)?
2) For your error, are you by chance using an older version of Easy Fancybox Pro? I think that’s the only way that error would occur. I should have an appropriate check for that. I’ll work on a fix, but I’d also like to confirm I’m diagnosing the issue correctly.
