Sorry for the delayed response guys. It’s simple to setup the home page.

Step 1 : Create a page and assign HOME PAGE template to it.
Step 2 : Go to SETTINGS ==> Reading and set that page which you created in Step 1 as
FRONT PAGE.

Seems resolved hence closing this.

}
is the CSS for it.
You can change this.

}

The dark color is because of this code in style.css.
You can change this CSS code.
You can use https://wordpress.org/plugins/simple-custom-css/ plugin to avoid overwriting of CSS code because of future updates of the theme.

This is possible in pages and not posts.
For posts, you’ll have to make changes in single.php
