In reply to: why can’t I delete unwanted THEMES ? (post 2.0.4 upgrade)Yay! They’re gone 🙂
although I never wanted those 2 damned themes in the first place, I did go to the WP Theme Viewer, download both themes, reupload them to my directory to overwrite the exisiting folders.
Then I was able to delete the entire themes without incident.
Thanks again!
P.S. I use Dreamhost, but I have no idea how to delete files from my host. (I’ve only ever deleted via an FTP client.)

In reply to: why can’t I delete unwanted THEMES ? (post 2.0.4 upgrade)Initially the whole folder (and that- apparently- worked just fine for the first 20+ themes that I wanted to toss). But when I couldn’t delete the “artsemerging” and “StripedPlus” folders in their entirety, I then went through and tried to delete their individual folders and files one-by-one, but got stuck as described above.
(for example, the artsemerging folder in my wp-content/themes directory has no files in it, yet I still can’t delete the folder itself!)

In reply to: get_archives offset parameterI don’t know how to know if my theme uses that template tag or not, nor am I familiar with the parameters… I have asked at the Hemingway site. thank you.

In reply to: get_archives offset parameterI didn’t mean to- promise! I got a message saying “Something odd happened.”- so I thought that meant my reply didn’t work- that’s why I tried to repost. *sorry*

In reply to: get_archives offset parameterwhat “unregistered” has asked is just what I am trying to do, unfortunately, writing it myself is not an option, as I have no clue 🙂
I am using Hemingway, which shows the most recent 2 posts in the main body. So in the sidebar, where I am listing “recent entries”, I want to EXCLUDE those last 2 entries. how can I do this?
thanks, Elisabeth

In reply to: imported MT entires not appearingin WP 2.0note: I couldn’t figure it out, so I reentered MT, changed all post-status to POST instead of DRAFT, and reimported all entries into a new installation of WP 2.0, and now I can access all my entries.

In reply to: Changed WordPress Address in Options, and broke the blogi’d still be interested in after-the-fact suggestions if anyone has one, but just to offer resolution on my own issue, i gave up, reinstalled wp and just started all over! (when in doubt- i suppose one can always start over!)

In reply to: imported MT entires not appearingin WP 2.0damnit, it’s killing me that I entitled this topic: imported MT entires not appearingin WP 2.0… when if i had just proofread i would have caught the two typos and named it imported MT entRIes not appearing in WP 2.0!
but i guess with my broken blog and missing entries, transcribed letters and an omitted space in my thread’s title are the least of my worries 😉

In reply to: imported MT entires not appearingin WP 2.0while peeking in my database via phpMyAdmin (on this other issue which I am still hoping to get resolved 😉 )…
No i didn’t dare change a thing while in the database, i just noticed- under the “wp-posts” appear the hundred or so “missing entries” i referenced in this thread, listed with “post-status” as “draft” and “post-type” as “0” (whatever that means).
still, i can’t actually find these posts in “wp-admin” anywhere. on my manage page my pull-down menu offers me the option of “December 1998”, but when I select the month to browse entries, it tells me no entries are found. what’s more- there are no entries listed in the top ticker space where writen drafts are supposed to idle.
anyone expereienced anything like this when importing draft-status entries from MT to WP 2.0?

In reply to: Changed WordPress Address in Options, and broke the blogthis is my first venture into the database, but yes, it seems something there must still be wrong. in my “imr” database, it tells me i have 10 tables:
wp_categories, wp_comments, wp_linkcategories, wp_links, wp_options, wp_post2cat, wp_postmeta, wp_posts, wp_usermeta, and wp_users
per your instructions, i used the “browse” function of your tutorial, and perused each of these tables line by line. nowhere in the table could i locate any further reference to “imrtest”, not even in wp-options (where you correctly idetified the initial error).
speaking of style-sheets… i can access http://www.elisepps.com/imr/wp-admin/theme-editor.php, and while it isn’t all pretty and formatted, i can toggle between word press classic and word press default, make superficial changes within the templates of those themes, and receive the message “File edited successfully.” however, when i visit my main url, http://www.elisepps.com/imr i still see what you see- broken.
any direction on where i should look to get the stylesheet to stop looking here:
<link rel=”stylesheet” href=”http://www.elisepps.com/imrtest/wp-content/themes/default/style.css>thank you for patience.
p.s. one interesting caveat– while in the database, and no i didn’t dare change a thing, i just noticed- under the “wp-posts” appear the hundred or so “missing entries” i referenced in this thread: http://wordpress.org/support/topic/55388?replies=1 there they are, listed with “post-status” as “draft” and “post-type” as “0” (whatever that means. still, i can’t find these posts in “wp-admin” anywhere. on my manage page my pull-down menu offers me the option of “December 1998”, but when I select the month to browse entries, it tells me no entries are found. what’s more- there are no entries listed in the top ticker space where writen drafts are supposed to idle. oh- but that’s another issue!

In reply to: I deleted all comments- so why won’t they go away?thank you for the reply. based on your reply, i gave myself a little crash course in caching- a topic with which i was not familiar. trying not to look *totally* dumb, i read through the other questions, but i can’t find instructions on how to do a “cache flushing”. is this something i can do myself, or do i just… wait to see if it clears up on its own? (although- my greater problem is that i broke my website! 😉

In reply to: Changed WordPress Address in Options, and broke the blogthank you. yes, both are now http://www.elisepps.com/imr
just to be sure, I logged back out of phpMyAdmin and then back in, and under wp-options, both site-url and home now show http://www.elisepps.com/imr (but still from ‘imr/wp-admin’ it just keeps trying to access files in ‘imrtest’ directory.)
anything else you can think of I should check?

In reply to: Changed WordPress Address in Options, and broke the blogOk, so I did the same thing as Adriana- and I tried to walk through the tutorial to undo it. Unfortunately… my WP is still broken 🙁
the “wrong” URI I entered was “http://www.elisepps.com/imrtest”
so via phpMyAdmin I changed that back to the “right” URI: “http://www.elisepps.com/imr”
but then when I log into http://www.elisepps.com/imr/wp-admin/post.php, and click on (for example) MANAGE, I get a 404 error because it still tries to access http://www.elisepps.com/imrtest/wp-admin/edit.php.
if I manually delete the “test” from the above url, I get a page with the content of the admin page, but there is no css formatting, and I can’t go anywhere from it, because all the links still try to access the “imrtest” directory.
i have walked back through the tutorial- can anyone think what I might be missing?
