Hi all – we’ve just released a beta for NextGEN that has a fix for the NextGEN public uploader. If you’re up for giving it a try, we’d love to get confirmation the fix works for you.

Thanks! (Erick)
@no-studio – just a note that that we also just released a NextGEN beta that has this resolved. Sounds like you are already good, but if not, feel free to give it a try here:

Thanks! (Erick)
@juliewaterhouse – We just released a quick beta that has a fix for a compatibility issue with WPML that was causing the NextGEN insert gallery window to be blank. If you want to try that, you can download it here:
http://www.nextgen-gallery.com/nextgen-gallery-latest-beta/
Otherwise, it should be officially released in another day or so.
Thanks! (Erick)
Hey all – just wanted to confirm we’re actively looking into this issue now. We have indeed found a compatibility issue with WPML. We’ve fixed that (though not yet released). I’m not sure everyone here is having the same issue, but if you have WPML installed, that’s probably what it is.
We’re working through this and a few other fixes/patches to our latest release, and the goal is to try to push a quick NGG update in the next few days.
Thanks. (Erick)

In reply to: [Photo Gallery, Sliders, Proofing and Themes - NextGEN Gallery] Crap@guja77 – I think this is in regards to your caption appearance changing on update?
https://wordpress.org/support/topic/alttitle-as-caption?replies=2
As Cais noted, it appears you may have been using a custom template. Do you know if that’s the case? Also, can you confirm which version you updated from? I’m wondering if you updated from legacy (1.9.13 or earlier), which would mean you were updating from a version that’s over a year and a half old. Some additional details would be helpful.
Thanks. (Erick)
@zoopozipp – Yup, I’m finding your review oddly short on details. Is there some specific aspect of 2.0 you’re commenting on?
I went to look for some history or support threads, but I see your account was just created on Feb 13, and this is the only thing you’ve posted.
While it’s possible you’re a long time users and just created an account for the first time to leave a review a year and half after 2.0 is released, to be honest, I also find this pattern curious, if not suspicious. Some additional details would make the review more valid and meaningful.
@trackoholic – Oh, one other point worth mentioning. NextGEN Plus and Pro are extensions of NextGEN Gallery, the free plugin. But NextGEN Gallery is the one that handles uploads. So the paid extensions shouldn’t really have any bearing on whether your uploads are working. It’s going to be something in your environment (hosting, another plugin, etc) interfering with NextGEN Gallery (the free plugin) specifically.
Thanks. (Erick)
@trackoholic – Just wanted to add a note on this…
If uploads aren’t working for you there’s likely something quite specific to a your environment that’s interfering with uploads. Often we can either adjust the plugin code directly or recommend a specific change in your environment to resolve such issues.
If you are interested in troubleshooting it more in that way, please get in touch.
Beyond that, I do need to emphasize that NextGEN is active on just under a million websites, and obviously uploads are working for the overwhelming majority of users.
Again, if you’d like to sort out what’s happening on your site, we’d be happy to help. Thanks.
Yup, thanks for the feedback @lorainegardner62, but if you can be more specific about what features you’re looking for, that would be great.
@osalepito – I think you must be referring to these threads:
https://wordpress.org/support/topic/add-a-new-payment-gateway?replies=6
https://wordpress.org/support/topic/nextgen-pro-4?replies=6Both of those have 3 replies each from Cais.
It sounds like you were having some difficulty submitting a support query via for NextGEN Pro via our contact form, but you mention that you can’t submit a ticket because you are on a local host.
The fact that your working on a local host shouldn’t prevent you from submitting a support ticket. You can just specify that your site is on a local host and submit like normal.
Otherwise, did you actually submit a pro support ticket and not get a response?
@osalepito – Just to second Cais’s point, we respond to (almost) every free and pro support thread. The fact that we respond to nearly all free support queries is actually quite unusual among popular plugins. Given that plugins are free, not all developers feel obliged to provide both the plugin and basically unlimited support for free.
I’d also emphasize that if you look at the sidebar on the NextGEN plugin page, you’ll see some stats on how many support queries there have been in the last two months, and how many of those are resolved. Our “Resolved Percentage” is higher than almost any other major plugin.
The combination of our aggressive coverage of support queries and our resolved percentage would indicate that we have among the best support of any popular free plugin.
Given all this, again, it’s very unlikely you submitted a support request that didn’t get a reply. The only way that would happen is if you sent an email that went to spam or otherwise never arrived.
If you could provide some additional details, that would be helpful.
@slappycat2 – To follow up on Cais’s comment, I also want to emphasize that we have lots of Buddypress users using NextGEN every day. So they are compatible. BuddyPress and NextGEN are both hugely popular so statistically they end up on the same sites frequently. If there was a general, obvious conflict, we’d be hearing about it from a lot of users every day.
Whatever is happening, if it’s a conflict between those two plugins, is likely to be something quite specific. Maybe some specific setting or custom configuration of one plugin or the other?
I’d add that without having details on the issue, it would be difficult to conclude that it is a conflict between BuddyPress and NextGEN. It could be some other element on your site.
As Cais noted, if you’d like us to take a look, let us know. Thanks!

In reply to: [Photo Gallery, Sliders, Proofing and Themes - NextGEN Gallery] Breaks jQuery@jonazu – I’d second @photocrati on this. Obviously NextGEN Gallery works well alongside most WordPress plugins and doesn’t cause issues with jquery for most users. Can you provide any details on the specific issues you were having, including which plugins you saw a conflict with?
Yup, just wanted to confirm that the next major release does (finally) remove all NGG scripts from pages without galleries.
I think the “backwards compatible vs modern checkbox” is a nice and idea, and one we’ll raise for team discussion. To be honest, I will say this is the first time I can specifically recall hearing someone express concern about the jquery version.
@denflows: Yup, we saw that. I think that’s very incomplete picture that notably oversimplifies the choices that face plugin developers in a complicated WordPress landscape where you control very little about the environment in which your plugin is running.
In our case, we *were* using the shortcode API as intended. But there were a lot of conflicts with plugins who weren’t. So we adjusted our implementation to resolve those conflicts. The resulting implementation worked well with WP and avoided conflicts until WordPress 4.0.1 was released.
I’m sure someone out there would say: well, you should just do things the right way, and if there are issues with other plugins, that’s their problem. But anyone who’s supported a popular theme or plugin know the “it’s their problem” approach doesn’t go over well. Users don’t care where problems originate, they just want them solved. Which I understand.
So I’m confident we made the best decision for our user base as whole with the way we were doing it, and we’ve now just adjusted again to accommodate the new circumstances.
