In reply to: Document displays in page/view, but is blank in page/editDear kmessinger (or others): I have updated to WP4.5.1! You stated that I should “paste it into page edit”. That is completely impossible, since such is my exact problem!! Perhaps you misunderstood my original description: “all/PAGES edit” for the page “scientists” displays as completely empty and blank; I have tried to paste into PAGES-edit several times, but nothing ever displays. When I examine the same page in “all/PAGES view”, all material is nicely displayed as usual. In addition, please give me instructions that are much more detailed (e.g., what is “wp-content/uploads/2015/05” and where is it found?). Please excuse my being so demanding, but I am getting nowhere in trying to fix my problem; thank you again for your efforts!

(1) Did you leave something off your first sentence (ending in “the pages do not. “)? (2) What should I do to get the missing image to be reinserted? Pretty please be explicit, so I can follow your suggestion! Thank you again for all your advice!

In reply to: Failure to enter new links into blog textMy problem last week about adding links or pasting was not due to some failure to get those additions accepted! Instead, I have found it is due to the new display showing some previous version of the revisions (e.g., #20) instead of the latest corrected version (#23); this created an illusion that the changes were absent even though they really were accepted! I presume that this must be due to some malfunction of whatever WP software determines what to display.

It never happened with all my previous posts. I have not knowingly changed anything. I would like to know what I can do to go back to whatever was the status before last week (e.g., should I re-install the 2013 theme?) Thank you again!!

I found this problem by accident when I thought I should see how my site looks on different browsers/search engines. Recently, several readers notified me that they found my site was not displaying properly with IE (so it is not just me!). Thank you for your answer; I will download IE-8 (I did not d/o that earlier because I have never liked IE) and see what happens.

Nickname and DisplayName are both given as the pseudonym. For JAN DEMBOWSKI: This seems hard to believe! Is there any way to list the pseudonym instead? Please also advise me about the Private versus Public post status question.

In reply to: How are posts published/activated/displayed?Thank you, Tom Leger! You are probably correct about conflation, but this seems to be a frequent occurrence with Word Press. I assure you I have already read much too much in the CODEX and the forums.
My conbined website/blog presently has 5 posts (4 + one for the static home page), each assigned to one or more of 5 categories. I am trying to get pages = categories = menu items. You can take a peek at my site:
http://dr-monsrs.net .The menu now functions well, but I still do not get any displays when I ask the listings under all-pages to display their contents via View or Edit.

After more fiddling today, I now have a situation where the Home page is great, but the several other Pages have no posts displayed when I click on either View or Edit under All-Pages; however, if I click on any of 3 different choices shown on the menu for the exact same pages shown as empty under View, the display now shows a full version with everything present that should be. What can cause this condition? Why can’t I get the full display by clicking View under each page listed on All-Pages?Forum: Fixing WordPress

In reply to: Designating 'home page' versus 'posts'?I inactivated all 4 plugins, and then activated the Twenty Thirteen theme. The result displayed under Reading Settings is 100% identical = the uppermost section is missing Front page displays.
I await your expert advice about what I should do now. Thank you again!
