Hi there @jrske,
It sounds like there may be a conflict between WP Mail SMTP and another plugin on your site. The “Why don’t you login” message appears to be coming from some other plugin, and could be where the conflict is happening.
Try a reset again with and without WP Mail SMTP enabled, and note the URLs. What I suspect is something is different about the URL when our plugin gets activated. In our free version, the URLs shouldn’t be changed, as it doesn’t have the click tracking feature built-in (a feature of our Pro version). However, it appears that something may be changing the URLs. If you can try that and get back to us with the two URLs, that should help.
Thanks!
Hi there @nicmare,
I’m glad to hear you got that sorted out. And thanks for mentioning the fix for others who might come across your post.
For future reference, we also include information about this here on our site:
Have a great day!
Hi there @aether16,
It looks like your password may be incorrect. The SMTP server you’re trying to connect to is sending back an error that the password and authentication command failed. Check out your password to make sure you’re using the correct details.
In case it helps, this guide on the Namecheap website may help you out:
I hope that helps! Have a great day!

Hi there @ajscandles2023,
Thanks for stopping by to leave a rating and a review for WP Mail SMTP! We’re glad our plugin was able to help you get your bulk email sent.
Just to clarify, the mention of doing an email list review doesn’t apply to us. I’m not sure if you may have been referring to the bulk mailer app, but we don’t provide an email list review. We do, however, have a built in system that checks your DNS to make sure we don’t see any issues with it when sending a test email. If we do detect a problem, our plugin notifies you after the test is complete.
I hope our plugin continues to serve you well!
Have a great day!
Hi there @villdaniel,
We’ve seen links get changed in the past when link tracking is enabled. Try checking your SendGrid account to see if click tracking is enabled. You can try disabling it to see if that’s causing the problem. If it’s not enabled there, you may have a conflict on your site that’s messing up the link before it gets sent.
I hope that helps! Have a great day! 🙂
