In reply to: How to put self-made ad (w/ link to another site) in sidebarHi Alchymyth—
Thanks for the reply. I had considered that I might have to use some html, which of course, I’m not trained in at all…
I think I understand the code above. I would put the link where it says “outsidelinkurl” and the location of the image where it says “imageurl”. However, I don’t know how I would find where the image url is…
And I don’t understand the alt=”ad”…could you help me with that last bit, too??
Thanks so much for this.

In reply to: RSS and/or Add to Any widget not workingOK…I know I’m not supposed to “bump” my post and I’m not trying to do that. I did just figure something out….
I clicked on the RSS feed for this topic button on this page and had the same problem. Then went to IE and the RSS thing worked. I’m using Chrome, so I’m guessing that’s the problem. Even so, I don’t understand why it wouldn’t work in Chrome…

In reply to: Presentation page replaced home page, where are posts posted?Just checking back with everyone. I’ve had to go back the my usual theme…but in the meantime, I’d like to keep working on switching over to the Mantra theme.
If anyone can point me in the direction I need to look for where the posts are posted to…since the home page was replaced by the presentation page.
Thanks in advance!
Oops Dragonsjaw—-I think I was writing up my response as you answered my question…thanks so much! I must have picked up your vibes and got the answer! 🙂
I figured this out on my own by just monkeying around again in the menus page.
This is a super easy fix, but I had NO IDEA that you have to drag the box with the page title in it to the right a bit. As if you are indenting. Then it creates what is in that box (the page) as a drop down item when you hover your mouse over the parent page menu item on the main menu.
OK, easy enough. But really, if this is documented somewhere, I didn’t see it. Sheesh.

In reply to: Links to archived posts brokenIn the spirit of giving more help than I received… (grrrrrr)
I figured this out for myself by continuing to dig around via google. Turns out that the permalinks were incorrect because I had them set to a custom setting that wouldn’t work with something (I still don’t know what).
So I changed the permalinks setting to default in the following menu: Settings > Permalinks > Common Links > default.
I hope this ends up helping someone who is frustrated with this issue and cuts your downtime on this short.

In reply to: Links to archived posts brokenOK, well…not feeling the love. I did continue to try to find a solution to this problem. I don’t know where to begin, really. I am such a newbie 🙁
I realized that the archive is a widget. So I looked for that in the forum posts. I found a post from a year ago with a similar problem and the answer was apparently: Check your theme’s archive.php template file.
I don’t actually know what this means. But I think it’s a clue… 🙂
If there are any good samaritans out there who have any help for me. Really, I don’t have an inkling where to start looking for a solution.
Thanks in advance for any help here…YAY TO ALEX! I hope he makes more great plug-ins. Best to you. Hope your blog does well and is fun to do!
Oh, I didn’t make my way over to the forum to post the solution. Alex, the developer emailed me and I got a chance to ask him personally. Here’s what he suggested and it worked like a charm.
Go to gallery options -> tab “gallery” -> Number of columns -> change this to 4 and test your page again
I’m with you. This plug in is awesome. I encourage everyone to donate to Alex so he keeps making great plug-ins for us!! :=)
I’m re-posting this problem. I don’t know if the author has seen this post or if he participates on this forum. I dug around for a while and didn’t see him contributing to any posts…
If someone is a maven at this stuff, I’d be grateful for some help. My next problem solving thought is to delete my gallery and re-do it. But that’s a lot of pictures to have to reconfigure! 🙁
In the meantime, my gallery looks stupid with holes in it. Double sad face! :-((

In reply to: [Plugin: Embed] Youtube Embed CodeAhhhh…sorry. You DO need a plug in…that would just be the worst job to do one by one. Best of luck!

In reply to: [Plugin: Embed] Youtube Embed CodeI’m kind of a rookie, and I’m not sure what exactly you are asking about…however, I do know that if you copy the embed code into the post and make sure it is NOT a link, it embeds the video into your post. Is that what you are asking about?

In reply to: Word wrap hell…nothing makes my text wrap around pictures.David. You are my HERO!
Here’s the code I put into my style.css page:
.SCS img.alignleft { float: left; }
.SCS img.alignright { float: right; }Now it’s working whether I place the text right OR left. I don’t know what will happen when I try to put something in the center. However, I can always place text above and below when I want something in the center (which I don’t really anticipate needing…)
Thanks again for your kind and patient help!!
