In reply to: No Response From RespnsiveHi,
Thanks for responding Emil. I think I don’t know how I missed that either:( again, I’m such a newbie i’m new to forums as well! lol…I SEE YOU ARE BASED IN CHICAGO!! Exciting,I work in Chicago as well! Now that I’ve been using the Responsive Theme more and more, I see that RSS Feed is a widget that can be added into the sidebar, which is great. I also like how one can punch in the CMYK color for the background color.
In terms of adding rotating images to the landing page, I have chosen satellite slide show plugin which I like a lot.
I wanted to make the following modifications:
–Adding the slideshow onto the landing page (I have activated the Satellite Slideshow Landing Page)
–Changing the background color (which I know is a CMYK plugin)
–Making the text in my pages smaller (if you look on the dummie site that I have set up, http://deanna-kouskoulas.com/ the text under the category “How I can Help you”I already changed the font to a smaller 12 on my css sheet through a code provided by a user on one of the main forums, but I am wondering if how to to the same to Pages
Note: I have not downloaded a child theme yet
Finally: I am looking to put just text in the widget areas…was wondering if this is a possibility..thanks!

In reply to: [Responsive] Responsive Theme Support ForumHi,
I am using responsive theme right now for a website that I am working on, http://deanna-kouskoulas.com/
I am looking to see if there is a way to make this text smaller..as it is causing the page to go below the fold…if anyone has any insights that would be greatly appreciated.
thanks!

In reply to: Editing Theme Filesif you see, the page runs longer and you have to scroll down towards the bottom to be able to see get to where the widgets are. I”m wondering why the text under the heading is so large ?
Forum: Themes and Templates
In reply to: Editing Theme FilesOkay, I understand that and I agree its better to play it safe.
However, if you look at the theme i am using on a dummie website that I am creating using The Responsive Theme, I have been running into a problem of the text in the description page (under the header and subheader). it is really large and causes the page to run below the fold. i know that this is probably a result of fluidity, but I was thinking that the best way to fix that would be to edit in the css sheets.
here is the link to my test websitethanks

In reply to: Preview before uploadingYep! I will be using the Responsive Theme on WordPress created by Emil.
Also: Andrew, I have seen you on the support forums a lot and you offer some efficient pieces of advice to those who post questions, as opposed to just providing them with links to send them off somewhere to a page with definitions that don’t really give them the help that they are looking for, so with that said, I applaud you!
As I am a beginner, basically at the infantile levels, I thought I would reach out to you with an outline of website goals that I am trying to reach through wordpress.
I work for this company: http://360eg.com/
My superiors are looking to me to re-modify the website. Our webiste is currently running on the genesis theme framework powered by studio press, but when this website was originally created, it was sent out to a consultant and my boss does not hae the original css sheets, so I will be modifying new ones.
In observing that you have offerred very helpful advice before, I thought I would give you a description of the work I am conducting prior to making the website modification, as well as an outline of the recreations/changes I am looking to make. .
I an creating a competitive analysis of the 3 following themes: 1. Enterprise Theme (Powered by StudioPress) 2. Carmen Multi-purpose Respnsive (outside vendor) 3. Responsive Theme (Found through WordPress)
The Modifications I am Looking to Make:
They are as follows:
–Adding a news feed to the landing page,
–Adding an RSS feed
–Adding social media interactive icons to the top navigation bar(as widgets, maybe with a plugin that will make them clikcable with links?)
–Adding a background color that is a gradient (I am guessing that I would add background color through this kind of coding applied to a css sheet ex: /*Firefox 3.6+*/background-image:-moz-linear-gradient(top,#2F27,#1a82f7);
–Adding a rotational image slider to the landing page (By installing an orbit slider plugin)
–Adding in more pictures and wrap text to be able to accomodate those picturesWas wondering if you have any insights as to the best theme to use to be able to make these modifications?
Thanks!

In reply to: ThemeForest vs. WordPressThanks Emi,
glad to know that the theme has gone through testing and meets these regulations. I downloaded it last night on a dummie site that I have created, and I like it.
One of the main focuses that I have for the website modifications that I”m making is the ability to create a unique background, such that I would either be able to code in the CSS file for a unique color or that I would be able to input the color numbers in order to create a really unique background.
And thanks very much for the link where I can view these ratings, this is also really helpful.
I appreciate the amount of support that everyone is giving me on wordpress

In reply to: ThemeForest vs. WordPressAh I see..and his theme is wordpress ready, but what you’re saying is that because it was created by an entirely new vendor, the chances of me gaining support would be entirely dependent on the willingness of the vendor.
ha that is life!!:)
And i’m truly torn between this respnsive them and this carmen theme, as carmen has a lot of interactivity already ready for me, but I am guessing i would still be able to do the same with Responsive and probably get more support when I need it, as I have seen the creator, Emile, respond many a time to questions posted.
Thanks very much for your communication,I really appreciate it!

In reply to: ThemeForest vs. WordPressAh I see,
so carmen theme is different then “resonsive” which would be found under “Themes” on this wordpress.orgAlso: I am a little confused as to why this “Respnsive” Theme on WordPress has that name, when I have observed that that is a general name used to describe a whole plethora of different themes with fluidity and that are mobile friendly.
Just checking and a little confused.
Thanks! Sorry for putting anyone in any awkward positions. thanks for your help!

In reply to: Determination of Best Theme..Any HelpHello jmag,
that is correct: we do not have the FTP username and the password. The last website was exported to a consultant I believe, yet it still runs on the Gensis Theme Framework. This tells me that the consultant either used WordPress to make it accessible for our admin to edit information, or they did not know as much coding as consultants do…i’m guessing the first.
Do you have any insights as to procedures I should take in order to enure that I would be able to make a new website while freezing the other one?

In reply to: 2 webistes…oh nooh okay great! And yes I didn’t mean that as a jab against wordpress…i have great respect for this entire forum and the templates
I don’t know if you have ever used this template before on wordpress, but was wondering if the Responsive Theme would be accomodating to add a timed image rotater to the landing page, as well as an RSS feed for news updates on our company.
Again, apologies if these are really dumb questions, I’m quite an infantile at all of this!! Thanks very much for your help!

In reply to: 2 webistes…oh noHello Esmi,
Oh it is free..hmmm interesting…when something is free I get a little weary of its overall capabilities in terms of SEO, which background colors it will be able to accomodate, its resolution, and where I can place wrap text around images the way I am intending in my original design concepts. In regards to deleting the original website Oh boy, so essentially we need to be able to get those details in order to conduct a proper file transfer.
Also: Here is a summary of my goals for the website:
–Adding an RSS news feed within the landing page
–Adding my own gradient background color, but NOT as an image, I want it to fall under something like:/*Firefox 3.6/background-image:-webkit-linear-gradient(top,#2F2727,#1a8f7);
so that the page will be able to load faster.
Summary of Responsive Theme
Fluid grid system
9 Page Templates, 10 Widget Areas, 6 Template Layouts, 4 Menu Positions (more once downloaded.)Questions
–What does a “fluid grid system” entail?
–9 Page Templates: Does this entail that there are only 9 pages that can add the company information onto?
–10 Widget Areas: Are these widget areas generally used for a summary of a certain service followed by a “Read More” section?
–6 Template Layouts: I am guessing that these layouts of where spaces for certain information fall. I am guessing that I would choose these according towhere I would want the logo to fall followed by company information
–What does 4 Menu Positions entail?Sorry for the heavy influx of questions, I’ve been researcing this information but thought it would be best to reach out to experts as opposed to trying to interpret everything as a beginner…thanks!
