“digitalfrog: That is an interesting idea. There are several ways it could be accomplished – the best perhaps would be the use of the ‘title’ tag – to bring up the standard popup text (it is a lot more cross-browser compatible then trying to use pure CSS or javascript popups). If I get a chance again I will look into it :)”

In reply to: Need a plugin? – taking a requestI would love to see a plugin that would show the EXIF data of a picture in a bubble as the mouse hovers over it !

In reply to: Explorer much slower than explorer….I’m using wp-cache and it helps a bit indeed.
I added some larger files as I could not use thumbnails with the combination of LightBox and Flash objects. This has been fixed (merci whooami) and now should remove the larger pic and replace them with thumbnails.I think what makes people go away so quickly is that they do not see anything at all. If they would see something coming, they may be more patient and hold a bit more. But a white page is depressing.
I’m sure I’m not alone in this situation (slow server), and wonder if anyone has found a trick to display a teaser that would be quick to load whilst the rest slowly makes it’s way to the users machine.Ralph

In reply to: Explorer much slower than explorer….I don’t disagree with what your statement, that said what is interesting is that one browser seems to be okay with it and not the other one.

In reply to: flash pop up thing?has anyone found out how to make it work in combination with flash-text headers and so on ? The popup window is in the background of the blog headers rather than in the foreground.
Thx

In reply to: photoblog similar to rion.nuWell, I have not something as slick as this website, but I used a combinations of plugins that helped doing something that worked for me.
I just wanted a picture or two per posts (thumbnails), and allow the user to see a larger version when clicking on it.
You need at least two components:
– image management: the built features in 2.x are quite good, but I recently implemented ImageManager ( http://www.soderlind.no/archives/2006/01/03/imagemanager-20/ ) and it rocks.
– image display: I use a simple plugin that works well, lighbox. Imagemanager (see above) even automates the use of lightbox. The users can’t do anything more than look at the larger picture and close it, so if you need comment management and so on that plugin won’t do it for you.
I have a display issue with lighbox, whereby flash objects stay in the forefront rather than the background. I have not found yet how to fix it but that’s another story. You may prefer, like me, a system that would generate a micro gallery within a post, managing the alignment of all pictures and so on. I have not found yet such a plugin but it may very well exist.
My website contains a bit of nudity, so just skip it if that offends you or if you are in the office.

In reply to: my blog is downI had the same issue and could fix it with phpMyadmin ( http://www.phpmyadmin.net/home_page/index.php ).
Maybe there are easier ways, as you must be quite technical to set this up if it’s not already installed. BUt that can help you change entries in your MySQL database directly.
Use with precaution.Ralph

In reply to: Image galleryImageVue is very simple to use, but is quite limited in terms of customisation: http://85.144.128.139/photos
Coppermine is the opposite, overkill for many but can be tuned a lot: http://www.digitalfrog.nl/index_coppermine.php?name=coppermine
And Gallery2, a bit more modern than Coppermine maybe: http://85.144.128.139/gallery
Be carefull, links are NSFW.

In reply to: WordPress Automatic Machine Translator Plugin 2.0 Beta – Please TestSame issue here than Evita, the French translation is a laugh.
It’s not a reflection on your work at all of course. I downloaded and installed the plugin, but had to remove it right away as the translation is so poor.If will post here any other online translation services alteratives if I come across any, but so far no luck.
Too bad 🙁

In reply to: Gallery for WP 2.0.3?I also take pictures in night club.
If you just want to show a few pictures you may just need to embeed them in your posts.
If you indeed need full galleries than Gallery may do the job for you ?
