In reply to: Review this adventure websiteQuite a nice site. (And how energetic!)
The one thing I’d suggest is not having so many posts on the home page — since you’re linking to so many videos, it takes a long time to download them, even on broadband.

Are you sure that you have PHP running on your server?
🙂 And, of course, it’s not a problem unless you don’t know about it.

In reply to: Lev*tra link spam inserted into my header?!Also, your web hosting control panel may have a function allowing you to set passwords on directories. That might be a good way to go.
I have another one.
Repointed domain to new DNS. Change reflected in domain registration within a few minutes. Tracert goes to new IP address. Browser goes to old site.
Tried: run > ipconfig: /flush DNS
No joy.Registrar (NetSol) said everything was set up fine for the switch. But gave me got a good tip. It wasn’t my machine but our our *firewall* that was caching the old DNS. Rebooted that, and got to the new server via browser.
Who knew?!

In reply to: Which plugins commonly cause server load problems?NewSaga, rather than ask for a list of plugins (there are dozens and dozens), it would be easier if you told us which plugins you’re using.

In reply to: <embed> code being modified by editorYou’ll probably find that you can’t use the WYSIWYG editors to input code, because they’ll convert it.

In reply to: header.php and footer.php will not showSince we can’t see your theme templates, I’m going to guess that it’s a problem with the theme templates.

Forum: Your WordPress
In reply to: My wordpress site, The Investor’s JournalWell, you’ve got three visible blocks of ads, plus a Yahoo web hosting ad:
<noscript><img src="http://visit.webhosting.yahoo.com/wisit.gif?1189400454" border="0" width="1" height="1" alt="visit" /></noscript>Seems like kind of a lot.
Thanks. That’s very helpful; off I go to check these out. I’m still (if you can believe it) using just Akismet and manually looking through the quarantined spam. Tsk.
Thanks again.
HandySolo, do you recommend Bad Behavior plus Akismet?

In reply to: Embedding WordPress into a custom site template??I’m not sure what a “standard Dreamweaver-made page” looks like.
However, if what you want is to incorporate a blog into a website, and to make the blog look like the website, then you have to (a) link to the blog from the rest of the site’s pages, and (b) apply the site template to the blog theme.
This is the same thing you’d do if you were incorporating a shopping cart, forums or other similar type of software to a website.
Otherwise, I’m not sure what you’re looking at that I appear to be missing. 🙂
