In reply to: [Meow Gallery] Image as a link opens Meow when clicked@unabashedgeek – it was a bit of a guess so glad it enabled you to pin-point the problem. I had a similar problem and the fix was to remove the .entry-content selector in Lightbox.

In reply to: [Meow Gallery] Image as a link opens Meow when clicked@unabashedgeek wonder if its this linked to setting in Lightbox. Take a look at: https://meowapps.com/meow-lightbox-tutorial/

In reply to: [Meow Lightbox] Passive listeners?I’ve seen this too when running a Google PageSpeed.
This is one of the issues – the other is Google gives with one hand and takes with the other.
By that I mean the Meow issue is and issue but not as big of an issue with having Google Ads enabled! If I remove Google Ads I can bump my scores up massively on mobile and on desktop. I’ve got a little work around at the moment – I remove Google ads from loading on the home page!
I still have a long way to go on my mobile score.

In reply to: [Meow Gallery] Broken Gallery with 4.1.6 updateI too have reverted to 4.1.5 on bajanthings and all is working again
Was getting the same issues as @samlaflam
@kywyz I’ve posted via the direct channel a report with screen shots and had an auto email saying you’ve received the report (Subject was: Possible bug with Tiles in Meow Gallery 4.16) … happy to test 4.1.7 as soon as its ready

In reply to: [AMP] turn off amp on the contact pageMany thanks. AMP did give my mobile PageSpeed a bump up but not a sufficient bump up to get me from low 60s to 90+
I’ve now reverted to NOT using AMP on BajanThings.
More work is needed at my end to get the BajanThings mobile pages to load faster.
Part of the problem is one of Google giving with one hand and taking away with the other.
I can bump up the mobile PageSpeed score – but don’t really want to remove Google Analytics or Google AdSense just yet. Google Analytics and Google AdSense doesn’t impact desktop PageSpeed but it does trash my mobile PageSpeed scores.
Back to the drawing board. BajanThings is only a hobby site – this issue of mobile PageSpeed scores must be really hurting commercial sites.
I am still looking for the magic mobile solution 😉
Thanks

In reply to: [AMP] turn off amp on the contact pageThanks – I’ve given it a try. I think there is some more work to be done on getting the PageSpeed mobile page bumped up to 90+ without AMP in place
Desktop is already in the mid 90+
Mobile was low 60s…. with AMP I’ve bumped the home page up to low 70s…Will have to play more. Based on previous testing I thought AMP might give me the boost I needed … it has given some boost but not enough to get me in the 90 banding

In reply to: [AMP] turn off amp on the contact pageThanks for the heads up I was looking for that but hadn’t found it. I will give that a go tonight.
Been looking to see how I can get my mobile pagespeed score up to to 90 on mobile. Its in the mid 90s for desktop but can only get it to low 60s for mobile – I was able to bump it up but deactivated AMP as the forms did not work. I also have a 3 posts with searchable tables that are used by researchers that I will also decativate.
Will report back.
Many thanks

In reply to: Bug with quote blockAM I in the wrong forum for reporting bugs. With this one I can easily replicate it and as note above you can see the bug in action in the link above..

In reply to: Bug with quote blockThe post is now opublished and you can see the bug in action in the right alighned image of the ship that merges with the quote block. see:

In reply to: Bug with quote blockHi Georg – try this and you will see it in action.
set up an image block with a image say 1024px
Set the caption to have a link as per my example.
Now set the image to right aligned and medium so 300px,
Now set up a multi para quote block
Now move the image so that it is aligned with the Quote block
You will have the Quote text on the left and it wraps around the right aligned medium image. If you happen to have a link in the caption then the link will not work if the block is a quote.
I have not published the image where this is happening so cannot give you a link. I’d be happy to provide screen shots if you tell me how I can upload it for you.
I have been able to confirm this with the default WP theme and Astra Pro. Astra support say its a WP block issue ad speak to WP which is what I am trying to do.
Note this ONLY occurs if the right aligned 300px caption link is “merged’ with a Quote block. It does not happen if the image is merged with a normal para block

In reply to: [Meow Gallery] Meow Gallery with FooBoxHi Thomas
Thanks for the response
Yes I partially fixed by changing the “Specific CSS classes” link in FooBoox Pro to: .mgl-gallery, .mgl-caption, .mgl-tiles, .mgl-gallery, .tiled-gallery, .wp-block-gallery, .wp-caption, .container, .gallery
Unfortunately I’ve been unable to fix the other major issue which is that Meow Gallery combined with FooBox will only pick up the alt text not the caption text. On the test page you will notice I’ve added Caption: and Alt: to the caption so that you can see what is being picked up. In Meow Gallery if your mouse over the image you will see the caption is prefixed with Caption: If you click on the image which then displays it in FooBox you’ll see the caption is prfixed with Alt:
The other thing that would be great to fix in Meow Gallery is that if you add some HTLM into the caption say for a link – then the code displays. Here is an example
Caption: Pilot Officer Andrew Cole in the cockpit of a Lockheed Hudson over the Atlantic while at No. 31 Operational Training Unit, Debert, Nova Scotia, Canada – photograph taken by Sergeant Errol Barrow his navigator : See Andy Cole's book: The Beautiful Blonde in the Bank.
many thanks

In reply to: Tiled Galleries – move from classic to WP BlocksIm guessing an latrenative to JetPack tiled galleries that dont work the same in classic editor and wp Block editor is to try something lightweight like Meow Gallery.
ANyone else having the same issue with galleries having transitioned from classic to wp block editor….
Begining to think what is the value of the Jetpack expect for stats which can be replaced by Google Analytics, Related I have already swapped out for Goolge matched content… onny thing really left is Comments
Just as I was giving up it has started working.
Not sure what was done at the back end…. But it’s now working

Many thanks @kokkieh – I will review tomorrow. Thanks for initiating a back end re-index of our site. I’m guessing this is something only you can do? Is there something that might have triggered the no-index. I initially thought it might be the SiteGround – SG Optimiser plugin tool which updated recently, so short term I turned off a lot of the functionality but that did not seem to make any difference.
Will get back to you tomorrow
