  • it doesn’t?
    http://webwait.com/

hmm, I don’t know, just clicked on it and went through to the site. maybe it was down or having problems when you tried to go to it.

it loads okay. Look into using the WP Super Cache plugin if you aren’t already.
And try webwait, for an idea of your site’s loading speed.

well, it’s working for now and faster than it was previously. I rebuilt using the debug mode, let’s hope everything continues as normal from here on out. I’ve never had problems with this plugin before so this was a surprise.

Correction from my previous comment — the tinyMCE Advanced plugin is def. the one you want. It included the option to use anchors.

ah, I understand what you want. I don’t know how to do it myself, never needed it. However, I browsed through my posting toolbar and saw when I clicked on the link button that it does include an option called “anchors”. I have no idea whether this is standard wordpress or not since I’ve been using the TinyMCE Advanced plugin since the beginning and I see that one of the options included is “advanced link”.

The support threads for the plugin is also pretty busy, or you can contact the creator. That might be your best option for what you’re after.

    yup, it’s fixed now. Thanks!

for reference, my details are the same as tgriff’s, except I only have the ony blog.

as far as I understand anchor text, it’s simply whatever word or phrase you hyperlink.
So, for example, David de Beer, my name is hyperlinked so that when you click on it you go to my blog (people tend to say, “click here” or “read this”, with here and this being hyperlinked to whatever website or blog the author wants readers to go to). The anchor text is my name, David de Beer.
    So:
The text (word or phrase) that you copy the link onto anchors the link in your post/ page.

Ok, so the question is — how do you incorporate anchor text into wordpress?
posts and pages. The next time you write up a blog post (or comment here on this forum even) look to the menu bar (click on html mode if writing a post in wordpress, it’ll be easier to spot the button that says “link”), highlight the word or phrase you want to hyperlink, copy the link you want to use, click on the “link” button in your toolbar, paste the link and you’re done.

    Example:

you write a blog post telling your readers how cool wordpress is. You select the word “wordpress” as your anchor, highlighting it, click on “link” in your toolbar and type in http://wordpress.org. click enter, “wordpress” is now hyperlink and you’re done. like so:

wordpress is my favourite blogging platform.

    that’s it, that’s anchor text.
(note: this is totally my layman’s understanding of the concept, I could be talking out of my ass).

when you activate accessibility mode the arrow is gone, you can’t drag and drop at all. What you need to do is click on each individual widget. There’s a button to the right of each widget. I have 2 sidebars, so my display on the widget page reads:
1st column – available widgets (the button to the right of each says “Add”)
2nd column — my left and right sidebars, listing the widgets on display on my blog, with button “Edit” to the right of each widget’s name. Click on Edit, and then you can customize or shift the order or remove the widgets.
    See if that works?

Now having said all that, as of today my widget page is actually working perfectly — I can drag and drop, edit add and remove. I didn’t do anything that I’m aware of, except turn off Google analyticator plugin, which WAS causing major problems in the widget area.
So, it could also be the plugin. If you have it, try deactivating it and see what happens.

    Interesting!
I discovered this thread by accident while browsing to find a solution to my widget problem. Don’t know how to describe it except that all the widgets (in the admin backend; front is fine) is kind of squished together, with the page stopping loading at the google analytics widget and I cannot edit, delete, move anything or access screen options.

The only thing I did in the last 20 minutes was to upgrade the plugin to 4.3.

Deactivating the plugin does fix the problem, although as has been pointed out it’s not an ideal solution. It’s a good plugin this, never given me any problems before. Hopefully this is a minor glitch.

I have this same problem. Experimenting a bit:

in the widgets section, if you look in the top right corner you’ll see “screen options” and if you click on that you’ll see an option to enable accessibility mode. if you do that, you can edit your widgets again and also add and remove them by clicking on each one.
So, it’s a temporary workaround but at least you can do something. Still haven’t figured out why the drag and drop isn’t working and wtf is wrong with my admin modules.

So far as I can tell those are the only problems I have.
