I’m running WordPress 4.9 and the current DG without issue. DG was also tested pretty extensively against 4.9 prior to it leaving beta.
My first guess would be that some other plugin you’ve got installed broke with 4.9 and it breaking is taking DG down with it. Have you tried disabling everything except DG?

Can you provide more information? Do you have additional plugins enabled? Issues such as this are generally the result of another plugin changing WordPress behavior that DG relies on to function.
The first test you’ll want to do is disable all plugins but DG and see if the issue persists.

Just a little plug for Thumber… It can generate your gallery thumbnails directly from Word documents and handles the transparency issue 🙂

Document Gallery on its own does not include document preview capabilities, just thumbnail generation. Many browsers natively provide preview for common file types like PDFs, but that’s is on a per-browser basis.
It’s possible one of those plugins you listed was augmenting default browser behavior, though I’m not immediately noticing any that would. Dumb question, but are you sure you didn’t just switch browsers?

Getting the integration is unfortunately not easily achievable, however you can go old school and add the
[dg]shortcode directly. The features are documented on the Installation tab.-Dan

I’m sorry for the delayed response. I’ve been very swamped lately.
There is — it would be to modify the command line call being generated here once you’ve installed the plugin. This change would need to be re-made whenever you upgrade the plugin.

If I understand your question correctly, this is expected behavior. Standard WordPress search does not expand shortcodes (including
[dg]) when finding matches. I was able to find SearchWP which seems to implement what you are looking for (for a price). I was not able to find any free solutions.-Dan

Have you taken a look at the video on the DG home page? You’re definitely welcome to use the shortcode directly, but we recommend using the built in visual editor integrated gallery creation since it’s much easier to use for simple galleries.
