“And in looking into it some more… My host has mod_cloudflare set up on all its shared servers and most of its dedicated ones..”
All of our hosting partners should have mod_cloudflare installed on their servers already. The only thing I would have them check, if you see an issue, is that they have mod_cloudflare set with CloudFlare’s IPs (just in the event they are using an older version). We have updated some new ip ranges on that page recently.
It sounds like W3TC may not have all of CloudFlare’s IPs set or something for IPv6. Have you tried the suggestions posted earlier in the thread?
That actually sounds like SmartErrors is kicking in because we detect a 404 (page not found is almost always a server side issue).
Do you know the IPs WordFence is running those from? It might be interesting to see what happens if you whitelist their IPs in your CloudFlare Threat Control panel.

In reply to: [W3 Total Cache] Is Cloudflare supported?Just to help clarify…
The W3TC settings for CloudFlare basically help replicate some of the functions in the CloudFlare WordPress plugin & also helps restore original visitor IP back to the WP commenting level.
CloudFlare doesn’t operate like a traditional CDN & the fields you see for CDN don’t have anything to do with us (more for using with something like Rackspace, etc.)
You would also still have to signup for CloudFlare directly because setting us in W3TC alone doesn’t activate CloudFlare.

Note: Including some other helpful tips for CloudFlare and WordPress.
Hi,
My hunch is that having the CloudFlare WordPress Plugin installed will help with this (will restore the visitor IP at the WordPress level, if that’s how the plugin is working).
I personally haven’t really seen any issues with this at this time, but I would be interested in hearing what WordFence has to say.

In reply to: [W3 Total Cache] CloudFlare through Dreamhost Cpanel or W3TC settings?Just to be clear…
The W3TC settings do not activate CloudFlare (you still need to signup for CloudFlare).

In reply to: [W3 Total Cache] Can not enable Minify optionDo you have minify enabled at CloudFlare as well? If so, that could be a cause because you don’t want two minify options running at the same time (something will eventually break on your site).

In reply to: Jetpack with CloudflareSounds like it might be an issue with Rocket Loader. Does turning it off in your performance settings help?

In reply to: [W3 Total Cache] CloudFlareI believe they changed their UI recently and it should be in:
Performance > Extensions
Really haven’t seen any issues. Wordfence is actually a security solution for your site, so you do want to make sure that nothing is blocking requests from CloudFlare’s IPs in any plugin you use.
You should probably also make sure you have mod_cloudflare or the CloudFlare WordPress plugin installed (restore visitor IP at the server or WordPress level).

In reply to: [W3 Total Cache] Does W3TC correct IP address information for comments?“My concern is whether or not W3TC actually does the job the CloudFlare plugin did and corrects those IP addresses?”
Yes, W3TC should take care of this for you. The easy way to check is to see what’s happening at the WP comment level. Are you seeing our IPs or the ones of your visitors?
“If you’re using DreamHost’s CloudFlare integration (via your Panel) then you won’t need the plugin for CloudFlare IP, as we have mod_cloudflare installed and it does the same thing.”
The rep was trying to add that mod_cloudflare is installed on their servers, so this should also take care of the IP issue (signed up directly or through them).
