In reply to: [BuddyMeet] Don’t waste your timeThank you for your feedback.
We’ve just released version 2.6.0, which introduces support for RS256-signed JWT authentication. This enables secure integration with 8×8 JaaS (8×8.vc) and self-hosted Jitsi servers using RSA SHA-256 verified tokens.
For instructions on setting up JWT-based authentication, please refer to our updated FAQ.
Additionally, this release includes improved compatibility with BuddyPress 12+, which may help resolve the room creation issues you’ve encountered.
If you’re still experiencing difficulties creating rooms, please share more details about the exact steps you’re following and any error messages you receive. This will help us assist you more effectively.

In reply to: [BuddyMeet] BuddyMeet Not Working AnymoreHi,
At present, support for JAAS model is on our radar, but we cannot provide a timeline for its implementation at this stage.
Thanks,

In reply to: [BuddyMeet] BuddyMeet Not Working AnymoreHi,
First of all, we would like to reference the related discussion here, as this thread is a continuation of that one.
After conducting some tests, we confirmed that the login flow now supports embedded clients connected via the IFrame API. We’ve just released a new version (2.5.0) of the plugin, enabling users to log in.
Having said that, we tested the new version using the official public servers, and here are the results:
- meet.jit.si: We logged in using a Google account and initiated the call. However, the server enforces a ‘5 minutes only’ limit on meetings.
- 8×8.vc: As soon as we clicked the login button, the 8×8.vc login page was displayed. However, only login via an 8×8.vc account was supported, and we did not find a way to create one.
Please note that due to the official servers’ stricter usage policies, you may need to consider either a self-hosted solution or a paid option of the Jitsi Video Server. One of our future plans is to support the Jitsi as a Service model recently offered by the 8×8.vc team. However, this will require you to subscribe to an active billing plan before connecting.
Thanks,

In reply to: [BuddyMeet] How to use of pluginHello and happy new year,
You can access the BuddyMeet page by either creating a BuddyPress group, clicking on it and accessing the BuddyMeet menu from within the Group page or by placing the [buddymeet room=ROOM_HERE subject=SUBJECT_HERE] shortcode within any post or page.

In reply to: [BuddyMeet] Buddymeet can’t access camera or microphoneHello and happy new year,
Please ensure you access your WordPress site via HTTPS, not HTTP. If the issue persists, check your browser’s permissions. There might be a change in your browser’s privacy policy or settings causing the problem.
Here are some quick tests we suggest performing to identify the cause of the issue:
- Attempt to access your site using an incognito/private tab in your browser. If it works there, it indicates a caching issue, suggesting that at some point in the past, access was denied, and your browser remembers this.
- Try accessing your site using a different browser. If it works there, it’s likely that there has been a change in the privacy settings of your primary browser. In that case, you’ll need to review and thoroughly check the privacy settings.

In reply to: [BuddyMeet] No Meet link in BP group menu in BP 12.0.0Hi Lars,
BuddyPress 12 is a major release with several backward incompatibilities. We are currently working on an update that will support this version, but it might take a while. Meanwhile, you can install the BP Classic official plugin, which has been built by the BP team, to provide time for third-party plugins to migrate to version 12.

In reply to: [BuddyMeet] Moderator Has Not Joined The MeetingHi,
Click on the ‘Manage‘ menu for your newly created Group, then navigate to the ‘BuddyMeet‘ tab. Finally, update the value in the domain field from 8×8.vc to meet.mayfirst.org (or choose another community running instance).

In reply to: [BuddyMeet] Moderator Has Not Joined The MeetingHi,
As we have explained in our previous replies, the answer remains that authentication is not possible. This process has not been implemented by Jitsi Meet for the embedded web clients, which are the ones that display the meeting inside another web page, as this plugin does.
Thanks

In reply to: [BuddyMeet] Moderator Has Not Joined The MeetingHi,
Currently, using authentication via the embedded client isn’t possible. To join another community instance, access the settings of the specific group, navigate to the BuddyMeet tab, and update the domain field. This is a process that you have to do for each new group. However, we’re planning to introduce the capability to centrally set the default domain for all meetings.
Thanks,

In reply to: [BuddyMeet] Moderator Has Not Joined The MeetingHi,
Sorry for not explaining this in more detail. By saying ‘free service,’ we meant that both official domains, meet.jit.si and 8×8.vc, now require the first user who creates the meeting to authenticate (via Google, GitHub, or Facebook) before being able to initiate it. By doing so they become a moderator for the meet and all the other users are able then join without any further action. This is a new step that cannot be performed by the embedded clients (via the IFrame API). More information on this subject can be found here: https://jitsi.org/blog/authentication-on-meet-jit-si.
So, currently, the only options available are either to join any of the community-running instances (https://jitsi.github.io/handbook/docs/community/community-instances) or set up your own instance (https://jitsi.github.io/handbook/docs/devops-guide). To configure the plugin to use a different Jitsi instance, you need to change the ‘domain’ attribute in your group settings. Thanks,

In reply to: [BuddyMeet] This plugin needs an update (priority high)Hi,
It seems that the Jitsi Team no longer offers a free official service. However, since Jitsi Meet is an open-source project, you can either use any of the community running instances or set up your own instance (requires technical expertise). To configure the plugin to use another Jitsi instance, you need to change the domain attribute in your group settings.
Thanks
