I have exactly the same problem and have tried the same fixes with no success.
Thanks Rebecca. Unfortunately that wasn’t it and changing the theme didn’t solve it either.
The visual editor hasn’t in fact disappeared – I phrased it badly. It’s greyed out and I can’t get into it.
Where should I upload the wp-admin and wp-includes folders to?
If anyone would be prepared to take a look I would be happy to give access to the dashboard.

Thanks Max – that was really helpful.
I’m not ready to delete the Paypal cookie because all my settings and preferences for Paypal are in there.
So I’ll check to see if the lc variable can be used in WP eStore, and if not I’ll have to get set up with a UK Paypal account.
