In reply to: [BackWPup – WordPress Backup & Restore Plugin] Fatal error: wxr_cdata()Hi @chdhesi0, has this issue been fixed for you? If so, please mark the topic as resolved. If not, then let us know what else is wrong and we will take a look at it.
Hi @irolfpro, are you saying even with a new job, it still does not delete its own old backups belonging to that job?
That’s definitely not something we’ve run into. We do want to investigate but require more information. If you’re comfortable giving us temporary wp-admin and FTP access we can debug the issue and hopefully find the solution quickly. if so you can send that information to support [at] backwpup.com.
Hi @irolfpro, yes each job will increment those last two digits.
Then try clearing the archive name field entirely and then hit save. It should then regenerate and you can edit as desired. This has worked for others with this issue.
Then please do as I recommended in your other thread: go to the general tab of your job, and hit save so it regenerates the archive name. Let me know if that works.
Also ensure the archive name begins with the prefix noted beneath the archive name field. For instance you’ll see something like this:
Note : In order for backup file tracking to work, the archive name must begin with backwpup_00311d01_.The random letters and numbers are different for everyone of course, but those must match.

In reply to: [BackWPup – WordPress Backup & Restore Plugin] 3.4.0 bugsHi @przema, this is not a known issue. Can you please give more detail? What directory have you excluded, how have you tried to exclude it, and what is the result?
@guilamu, it will not delete old archives, that is correct. All archives created from 3.4.0 or later will be managed properly, but you will have to delete your old archives as you see fit.
Hi @guilamu,
If you restrict the XML export to only exporting a few content types, does it work?
As for the other issue, I’ve been posting the solution to that in a few different threads. Basically go to the job’s general tab, and hit save so that it regenerates the archive name. You will have to delete all old archives you do not want to keep.
@macb, you should not need to delete the jobs and deactivate the plugin. Are you experiencing the issue of it not deleting newer files on its own, on all of your installations?
If you look at the archive name field, it has a note beneath it that says what the prefix needs to be. Edit your archive name to match that, if it isn’t already, and hit save. That should do it, if it is not working for you.
Hi @gooweb, I’m glad it worked. I’ll make sure it is updated in the next release so you will not have to change it again.
