By the way… I’m using Firefox 2.0.0.13 on Mac OSX Leopard (I think that’s the last version – not the new one).
I also added the TinyMCE Advanced plugin, and it works great.
I was having a problem where the visual editor did not appear at all unless I deactivated all of my plugins.
So, what I did was use the automatic upgrade for all the active plugins that had upgrades, and it worked! All of the visual editor buttons appear in the editor now.
Try upgrading all of your plugins before reinstalling, etc.
