In reply to: Indexing all poststhats it.
http://crestar.drivein-jim.net/over 1,000 pages, around 700 pngs, etc.
I tried to make the menu nav to have all pages listed on the upper most level… people started emailing me to say their computer locked up. Wasn’t true… It turns out the dhtml/javascript slows way down if the menu.js gets over 14 kilobytes.
Just show page source and look for HV Menu, the dynamic drive site is the location of the original.
this is the page with the menu on it:
http://www.dynamicdrive.com/dynamicindex1/hvmenu/index.htmcorrected the url.
Oh, I asked on dynamicdrive what was available to dhtml site nav that many pages.. no replies.

In reply to: Indexing all postsMy large site doesn’t have wp on it yet… I might do that to it someday, but I don’t see it happening until months from now. I’m just too backed up in things to do.
The dhmtl/javascript menu system I have I downloaded and installed on my static pages. The url for it is on each page.
If there was a way to easily add wp and integrate it with the site, I would do so. but it doesn’t look like they will work together.
Its my ad&d first edition site, if you are interested in the url, to get the menu system site, I’ll post it.

In reply to: Indexing all postsHmm. I don’t have a list or reference…
which would be a major pain if took my 1,000 html page site and converted it to wp. No way to look over a list of pages… or figure out which one of them I really wanted.
at present I am using a dhtml/javascript navigation menu system for that site.
It might be easier to just leave it that way. I have made major rewrites to that site’s nav, but I don’t think wp would work for it.
Hmm. I don’t have Kubrick, its blue fade, but I can change the pictures in Kubrick.
I wont be able to work on it until later in the week.
So its still linked by placing a link on a page that is editable from admin in wordpress ?

In reply to: how change image on home page? Some graphic programs will resize images.
I use Irfanview, its free, to resize jpgs, gifs, bmps, and pngs.
I re-read it, and I am still lost. I am drawing a blank.
If I create static pages, how do I access them from the menu on a non-static page ?
How do I call them from my 1.2 pages ?
Would the admin editor see them and then I could add them to a category ?
Thanks.
How are static to php pages added/connect them to the database ?
Thanks.

In reply to: config file questionYup, I have cpanel to. Mine says localhost, so it may be the co-mingling of the domains.

In reply to: how convert site of static pages to a blog ?I looked at Drupal a few months ago as a cms… and there was something about I didn’t like but I don’t remember what. I think it may have been that it woyldn’t let me set it up as only one user, or maybe it was the docs. I know almost nothing about php.
I did find a post in here about Ezstatic, but its looks mostly to be a manual way to include static pages into wp.
Doesn’t appear to be a way to automate it though.
I’m not a coder either.
Aha.
But it does look like a great deal of work… of course, depending on which version of wp.
Too bad it isn’t automated.
It would be easy for a small site conversion to a blog, but a static site with over 1,000 web pages would be a major pain to do.
edit: I took my few questions to the author’s site.
