  • Aha.

But it does look like a great deal of work… of course, depending on which version of wp.

    Too bad it isn’t automated.

It would be easy for a small site conversion to a blog, but a static site with over 1,000 web pages would be a major pain to do.

edit: I took my few questions to the author’s site.

The easiest way I have found to creat and maintain stati pages is discussed on podz site:

    http://www.tamba2.org.uk/wordpress/static/

I tried EzStatic, but could not get it to work as desired for some dynamic pages…the link I posted above is a more robust way to do it….IMO

How are static to php pages added/connect them to the database ?

    Thanks.

I think that is only a feature for 1.5. I use 1.2, so my static pages, are stored and edited in php files using includes for the header and sidebar info as shown in the link above…

I re-read it, and I am still lost. I am drawing a blank.

If I create static pages, how do I access them from the menu on a non-static page ?

How do I call them from my 1.2 pages ?

Would the admin editor see them and then I could add them to a category ?

    Thanks.

I came up with a vastly simplified way to use static pages in Kubrick. EZStatic did not work for me so I just did it in PHP. Very easy.

Let me know if you try this and have any problems or questions…

Hmm. I don’t have Kubrick, its blue fade, but I can change the pictures in Kubrick.

I wont be able to work on it until later in the week.

So its still linked by placing a link on a page that is editable from admin in wordpress ?

kato im a bit confused on your hack.
where is this supposed to go: ?static=

and what do you mean by this:
The pages you want to include must be placed in a folder called “content in your wordpress directory and the file must have the extention .php.

so we need to create a new folder and put the newly created static pages in there?

    so something like this
    myhome.com/mywp/content/aboutme.php

with my wp home install being
    myhome.com/mywp/index.php

    is that right?
thanks for teh effort. ive been killing myself trying to figure out static kubrick pages…

Thanks a lot of interesting stuff to take into account later on with both Kato and philpeeps methods, I was surprised that this thread in the beginning got no response, probably just got overlooked

My EzStatic plugin doesn’t work well with Kurbick on WP 1.2.x simply because the tags it uses to detect where you put your content don’t exist in the Kubrick template.

The latest EzStatic works with an out-of-the-box WP 1.5 beta on either the Default (Kubrick) or Classic templates.

I have problem, EzStatic (2.0.1b) work in my Localhost corect (apache 2.x, mysql 4.x and OS Windows), but when i copy this plugin on internet (apache 2.x, mysql 4.x and OS Linux) dosn’t work. Result is only empty page http://www.ozanova.com/?static=others/kontakt Where is Error ?? I try find problem, but I fail.
