Thanks Ron,
I tried placing the code from that solution in every possible position in the htaccess file, nothing worked.
Question 1: So the htaccess in the root level of the multisite installation does in fact affect redirects for mapped domains on the network (not just the main domain). Yes? (I wasn’t sure…)
Question 2: “rewrites not enabled for that vhost”… can you clarify? I have a managed VPS hosting. Should I contact them and ask them to enable redirects? Is there another way to check whether or not they are enabled?
by the way – this forum added http:// to those www urls. Not me.

In reply to: [WP Super Cache] Warning! Garbage collection is not scheduled! …Can't fix! This is STILL not resolved.
It’s also happening on a 2nd website, so it’s not isolated to the one website.
Anyone have the same issue?
Is there a fix?

In reply to: [WP Super Cache] Warning! Garbage collection is not scheduled! …Can't fix!I tried what you said – reloading the page after saving the Garbage collection settings… doesn’t solve the issue.
I created a quick screencast to demonstrate what I’m seeing: http://www.screenr.com/tAW7
Again – clicking the blue “Update Settings” will not save the Garbage collection settings. They always revert to the default immediately.
donncha – Is this a bug?

In reply to: [User Meta Manager] Problems with the user interface overhaul…Thanks Jason! Nicely done on the reimplementation. And thanks for the quick response too!
You’re right – v 2.0 does help reduce mistakes. The thing that tripped me up a few times in v 1.x was I accidentally edited meta data for ALL users rather than a single user. That sucked. But 2.x does improve that.

In reply to: [User Meta Manager] Problems with the user interface overhaul…My use of custom meta keys is probably a bit more complicated than most. I can describe it to you in detail privately – brian at casjam dot com. It involves WP multisite, e-commerce/subscriptions and other things.
So it’s disappointing that you would just remove a piece of functionality like that. A plugin like this one can be used it so many different ways for so many types of applications. What seems “unnecessary” to you could be essential for others.
Would you please consider adding back it back in?
The Domains screen allows me to create domain mappings for my clients and see which domain mappings have been created — all from one place in the Network Admin.
That’s a lot easier than using the Sites list and navigating to the individual sites dashboards.
But the real issue that I originally posted about was the confusing nature of the Domains list as it exists today. Until I realized it, there’s nothing telling users that not all domains are being listed.
Really?
I find that screen VERY useful. I guess you can count me as a vote for keeping it in!
Why not just make it one long list? Or paginated?
Ron
I know that. I wrote that in my original post.
I’m pointing out that the Domains list in Network Admin seems to be broken in that it doesn’t list past 20 lines, even if there are more than 20 domain mappings.
This is a problem because before I realized the domains list wasn’t showing ALL of my domains, I tried adding a domain mapping here (one that was added already, but I didn’t realize because it’s not listed), and it added it as a duplicate entry. The only way to resolve this duplicate entry was to go into the database directly in PHPmyadmin and delete the duplicate. Not ideal.
Yes, you could go into the dashboard of each individual site and edit it’s domain mapping that way, but it’s much easier to handle this from the Network Admin (isn’t that what the Domains list and mapping function is there for?)
Could the plugin be updated so that the Domains list shows ALL domain mappings?
Let me clarify…
Lets assume that it will be difficult/impossible to get all clients to plan on changing their DNS at a scheduled time. So with that in mind, heres my proposed plan (please tell me where this could go wrong):
1. Setup WP multisite on the new server with a temporary URL (not live yet).
2. Copy over files and database to new server. Test to make sure everything is working.
3. Point my main site domain DNS (for the main/parent site of the network) to the new server.
4. Inform my clients they have 30 days to update their DNS to point to the new server – The old server will remain active during this 30 day period.
5. Now that everybody is live on the new server, I end service on the old.
My question is this: At step 3, will pointing my main site DNS to the new server have any effect on those clients who still have their A Records pointed at the old server?

In reply to: Share post to social media from dashboard+1 Would really like a plugin for this.
Publicize for wordpress.com does it:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/publicize/And I hear that it will be coming to Jetpack for self-hosted… but when?
http://wordpress.org/support/topic/plugin-jetpack-by-wordpresscom-publicize-to-jetpack?replies=3I’m having this exact problem as well.
On mediatemple.
Is there a fix?
Thanks Ron, good to know.
How about the time it takes to go live?
Do changes to both A Records and CNAMEs display immediately (to the person making the change)? Does one take longer than the other to see the change?
