In reply to: Problems upgrading to 2.8.5 – failed errorsYeah, I’m struggling to find any answers. I’m going to contact my host again but it seems like I have to do this now every time there’s an upgrade. They tweak about with a few things until I get it to work but then it seems to revert back to its old ways by the time the next upgrade is released. I wish I knew what it was they were changing to get it to work…

In reply to: Problems upgrading to 2.8.5 – failed errorsThanks for replying. 🙂
It’s strange because I tried what you mentioned above by disabling plugins and switching to the default theme but that’s when I got the second error I posted. I’m not too sure what else I can do other than a manual upgrade but I can’t understand why the auto-upgrader isn’t working anymore. It’s quite important to have as I’m handing over this website to someone else soon and I doubt they’d know how to upgrade manually.Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: WP 2.8.4 – new users?Okay, good 🙂
So I don’t need to worry about those accounts now that they’ve been deleted? Thanks for replying!

In reply to: index renamed – hacked? My host said he renamed a file (which must’ve been the index file then) and had to reboot the server this morning as something was happening (didn’t say what). Could this be related to what’s going on just now?
I also noticed that my uploads 9 folder shows as being modified at 5.41AM yet there is nothing inside. Should I be worried about that? I have been scanning through my raw access log with various things I saw in that thread above but I am yet to find anything. I decided to delete the xmlrpc.php file as some people suggested to be on the safe side but it’s saved just in case that’s not such a good idea.
I also noticed in my site stats that there was a hit to wp-login.php and I haven’t logged in for a while (until now) which also makes me think something’s up.
I’ve changed all my passwords for now but I am using the latest version, practically all the posts in that thread were for older versions.
Do I have anything to be worried about?

In reply to: Plugin upgrades not workingI also have this problem. I have two almost identical blogs (with two separate hosting companies) and one works perfectly fine and the other seems to fail at automatically upgrading plugins and WP itself. I usually get an error about failing to copy a particular file when upgrading plugins.
The only difference I noticed is that the problem blog asks for connection information before upgrading whereas the other blog does not.
I was making do with Fantastico to upgrade my WordPress install but I’m now put off doing that after reading a post earlier in this thread. I decided to email my host as I had numerous plugins crying to be upgraded.
Thankfully they were very helpful (unlike my previous host who shrugged off any problem as an issue with the software and not them) So far my plugins are upgrading again. Unfortunately, they didn’t tell me what the problem was or how they fixed it so I’m not really able to help anyone. If you are on shared hosting though, it’s worth getting in touch with them.
Hi guys 🙂
I too ran into this problem last night.
After doing all the necessary backups I was prepared to do a manual install but I had a quick thought.I first installed WordPress using Fantastico in cPanel. I went back into Fantastico, where it urged me to upgrade, I gave it a shot and it was successful!
I understand that a lot of you would’ve installed WP manually and that this step won’t work for you but for those who did use the autoinstaller – see what happens?

In reply to: [Plugin: WP Status Notifier] MALICIOUS PLUGIN: BEWAREOhh…I had a link which kept appearing in my blogroll. I had to hide it as deleting it wouldn’t work.
I never considered that it could be down to a plug-in…I’ll have a look to find out which one it was.
Thanks for that! =)

In reply to: NextGen Gallery Slideshow upgrade not workingAh…I remember this happened to me too the last time I upgraded.
I think if I remember correctly, this is what happened:I seem to have to keep reuploading the imagerotator file after upgrading.
If you go to Gallery > Options > Slideshow, you might see a red box at the top saying:“The path to imagerotator.swf is not defined, the slideshow will not work.
If you would like to use the JW Image Rotatator, please download the player here and upload it to your Upload folder (Default is wp-content/uploads).”If you put the JW Image Rotator in the Uploads folder it should work again. At least that’s what happened with me 🙂
Good luck!
