It isn’t an end all, but it is important that your style validates.
On all three styles on my latest (last nite) WP, xhtml is valid.

Now, if I upload style.css to the validator, (aside from a generic font–family fix), it validates. I did some fixes on another I use, and it validates on an upload check. But a site check on my latest install gives me:

“Please, validate your XML document first!
    Line 98
    Column 2
The content of elements must consist of well-formed character data or markup.”

I get this on all 3 themes exactly the same. If I could find “Line98 col2” I could fix it!
So it must be in the code in the page, and something I did.

I just checked another install I did on another site a few nites ago and it validates both as xhtml and css! hmmm what did I do????
Delete the site and reinstall I guess, have no idea where the above came from
    Guess what!!!!!
I put some php code in an article, enclosed in the code brackets also as it should be, and that is what caused the above!
Unreal…lol. I was going to reinstall…whew! Left this up in case anyone else gets this.
I use a different stylesheet and template xhtml1.0Strict.
Wordpress 1.5 is Valid XHTML 1.0 Strict! And Valid CSS, no warnings or errors found. Same on my other install with default style.
    Add a link to CSS:

speaking of permalinks, both the above links are 404

I tried this, adding number to categories to show how many articles there was in the categories, but got an sql error? What is right syntax?

That would be great I agree. I use Movable Type to make my image posts as it uploads a photo I pick, makes the thumb to specified size, then creates a popup html page, and inserts the code into the page. 3 clicks.
Results in a thumb in article which opens up a popup that looks great as it is an html page. Also has the option to just copy and paste the code. Uses ImageMagick.
I like wordpress, but image upload could use lessons from MT. Lets hack it lol

    Here is what I have:
    Webserver with
    mySQL with phpmyadmin access,
    and
    SERVER_SOFTWARE Apache/1.3.28 (Unix)
I got errors on install, but wordpress up and running great. I like it, and have tried about 4 or 5 others.

    Hope the above isn’t confusing.
    1. There were sql errors on install, but it works. Others saying same thing.
    2. The other is in the admin page coding, onclick I get a runtime error, this is on most of the config pages.
When I shut debugging off, I of course get the error message at bottom of ie screen.
I can’t see “errors are supposed to be there.”
The program works good, but nontheless, install errors from mySQL shoulf be worked out.
But I’m not being negative, it’s a great program 🙂

Didn’t mean to sound so negative, was up all night. Explorer6, but haven’t had sql errors before, it has to be in the program. Was only during install. Don’t seem to be a big deal tho, it’s working good. Debugging from my settings…
Maybe I missed the password, that’s ok, wasn’t a big deal 🙂 Sometimes I run and don’t look lol
Runtime error as above on admin screens. The program is working great. I’ll turn the debugging off.
I really like it, great functions. Comments settup awesome, good configuration choices over others, love the stylesheet layout, easy to configure and fast loading 🙂
After having used WP all day…well, 8am to noon, I really like it. Am exploring it more, but it looks like it will become my #1. Just set it as homepage.
