  • Here is another aspect that WP 3 and the various Ping Optimizer plugins may or may not address concerning the issue at hand.

Yes I know I should write in draft mode “then” hit publish and no matter how many times I refrain when I finally do I still come back and edit. Ok now that aside here is the issue I would like everyone to consider!

QUESTION: Most of us use feedburner! I have their “Ping Shot” service activated. Correct me if I am wrong but even if I use one of these Ping Optimizer Plugins (Maxblog’s, Cb Net or Ultimate Plugins Smart Update Pinger) and they shut off my Dashboard’s settings/write ping setting, none the less over at the feed burner site isn’t my rss feed still being updated AND if I have the feedburner’s “Ping Shot” addon service checked then I will still be “Ping Spamming” when I re-edit (update) my published posts!

Thus (correct me if I am not understanding the ping process) even if I were to literally remove every ping service in my dashboard’s settings/write interface and only paste that list back or one item back say once per week – I would STILL be Ping Spamming since over at FeedBurner’s website their “Ping Shot” service would be set off each time I edit my post (update)!

The reason it the images did not show is that my hosting company has a security setting to stop images from being accessed. I turned that on but did not add the website to the permission list to access.

Thank you. I ended up copying and pasting about 150 posts but it gave me a chance to also attach relavent catagories to many older posts.

My website is a WP Blog. http://www.RantingBaldHippie.com

The new site is called http://www.middle-class-populist.com. Again the is entirely a WP Blog. The issue is how do I move the contents of the old blog to the new blog, keeping the dates and catagories.

A secondary issue was should I use the name with the dashes or without them? But the more important issue is how do I move the “contents” while keeping the dates and catagories. Both sites are remaining with the same hosting service.

I got a reply from Yahoo that said in effect even though I have automatic WP update that I should go ahead and do it myself. I will on my weekend when I can give it the full attention it deserves. Thanks for the links.

If I am reading your question correctly the preview thumbnail will not show up if your version of WP is 2.0 and the theme is for WP 1.5. Do any theme thumbnails show up in the preview ? Have you uploaded any 2.0 themes? Which folder did you upload them to? I have noticed that when I double click on the gray thumbnails the theme does work on my site, just that I cannot see the preview thumbnail unless it is a WP 2.0 theme.

I checked the link you listed. Apparently UTF-8 is less reliable if I understand your note correctly. But when I log into my blog going to WordPress options/reading it suggests to use UTF-8 as the preferred encoding for the blog.

I also noticed under options/writing the following was “unchecked” (WordPress should correct invalidly nested XHTML automatically)

While I have had another website for several years it was via frontpage and hence I never got into the behind the scenes nitty gritty. For my WordPress Blog I am using a tool called “post2blog”. It has checked under options both “generalte XHMTL Code” and “Unicode Text enabled”.

Please forgive the newbie inquiry. Is this a XHMTL, or CSS or template issue inside of WordPress?
