In reply to: WP flooded with new usersI installed the Stop Spammer Registrations Plugin. Overnight in an 8 hour period, it stopped 21 known spam user addresses from registering, but 33 new spam users registered.
The plugin does what its designed to do which is compare new user email addresses and IP adresses to a database of known spammers and block them if there is a match. I’m going to install the API so the new addresses being used to hit my website can be added to the database.
However, I still have a serious problem with spam user registrations. Is there something that I can change in the code? Thanks.

In reply to: Folders added to rootFor others benefit, the folders were infected through shell scripts which were uploaded through files with unsecure permissions. I deleted the folders and files and checked to be sure that all folders are 755 permission and files are 644. I added a http://ftp.deny file and a http://ftp.allow file that only authorizes ftp access from my computer since I’m the only person that should access the website.

However, I already deleted all of my plugins and the plugin folder that the plugins were in and the my website is still dead and displaying the error message. Any suggestions would be appreciated, because I don’t know what to do.

I deleted the popularity-contest folder and that didn’t fix. So, then I deleted the plugins folder along with the other 3 plugins that I use and that didn’t fix it.
I’m stll unable to view or log in to my webiste. Your help is appreciated.

Only the error message displays. And I can’t log into to the admin page either. What do I have to do to fix this? Thanks.

In reply to: Need Help – Elegant Grunge, Image Headersgaines62, Bluehost doesn’t have anything to do with your issue and you would not store it in flickr. It seems to be a filename (path) problem. Upload the file to your root directory or a subdirectory on your website using an ftp application like filezilla. Then, be sure to include the full path i.e. http://www.xxx.com/subdirectory/filename.jpg in the appropriate wordpress file.

It might be best to consider purchasing a theme that has more functions built into it and has a well developed documentation package for things such as how to add a large header.
