We were trying to be helpful for users to make sure they are running WPtouch alongside caching plugins correctly. There’s lots of work under the hood to accomplish knowing when things are working correctly with other people’s plugins, so bear with us.
Hi everyone! We’re sorry it’s not working correctly for everyone— we’re working to fix this up and solve the issues some people are facing with Super Cache. We’ll have 3.8.1 out soon.
We don’t guarantee that WPtouch will work with all themes and setups— I don’t think it’s fair to give us 1-star because it didn’t work for your particular setup. WPtouch is a complex mobile solution that can’t always handle the tens of thousands of themes and plugins out there.
Thanks for the review! In 3.8 we’re making it much easier to sort out cache plugin configuration setup.
The problem you are describing is a caching issue, and this is addressed in both the user guide and a sticky post in the support forums. Once you configure your caching plugin, WPtouch will work as expected. We’d ask that you please visit the guides and consider revising your negative review, as this problem is well documented and easy to resolve.
While you may disagree, it’s always been our philosophy that if you (as a webmaster) are making money off your website (with advertising), then it’s not unreasonable to ask you to purchase the Pro version.

In reply to: [WPtouch - Make your WordPress Website Mobile-Friendly] DisappointedSorry to hear you were having problems. While there are differences between the Pro and the Free versions, there’s nothing purposefully broken in the Free version as a way to entice. Some themes add shortcodes that are theme specific, and unfortunately there’s no way for WPtouch to understand how to render them. As you found it, it’s likely that another solution might work better for you. But if you are still having issues and would like some guidance, please let us know.

In reply to: [WPtouch - Make your WordPress Website Mobile-Friendly] WorthlessSorry to hear you were having problems with WPtouch. The problem you are describing is what happens when your caching plugin (W3, WP Super Cache, etc.) hasn’t ben configured to work with WPtouch, and it has nothing to do with the Pro version. This fix for this is documented in detail in a sticky-post here in the forums, and also in the WPtouch User’s Guide (available as a download) via the WPtouch admin. Please let us know if you have any issues implementing the changes listed in the guide.
@mjones56 If you’re seeing the mobile theme after removing WPtouch and you have no local cache running, chances are that your hosting provider runs a separate cache that also needs to be purged.

In reply to: [WPtouch - Make your WordPress Website Mobile-Friendly] GarbageYou’re running a cache plugin, which hasn’t been configured to work with WPtouch. We have guides on how to do that, here’s a link to the User Guide which details how to setup — WPtouch User Guide (pg. 54)
Thanks for the review!
You should post support requests in the support forum, however. In the next version of WPtouch we’ll throw up a banner with direction to the guide on how to configure them correctly.
The reason you’re seeing that is because Super Cache starts caching mobile or desktop pages, depending on what device first requested a page, and then indiscriminately sends them to the wrong device.
Once setup and configured correctly, WPtouch can work alongside Super Cache perfectly fine.
Can you describe what’s not working? Did you post in support about what was happening before you gave us a 1-star “review”?
