Looks like it’s not causing the issue on non-genesis sites. Not sure why it was acting weird before.
It is breaking the admin panels on genesis sites that have it enabled, however (which I noticed there’s already a different discussion thread about that).

The 2.1 version of the plugin is breaking our sites as well
PHP Fatal error: Call to undefined function genesis_html5() in /var/www/html/wp-content/plugins/genesis-simple-edits/plugin.php on line 102, referer: https://our.site.com/wp-admin/network/sites.php
I run a large multisite installation, some sites use genesis, some don’t. This plugin isn’t activated by default yet it’s breaking the admin panels on even default WP themes.

I’m still having this issue even after updating to the newest version of wordpress. Has anyone else figured out how to fix it?
