To update my post, I’m using this script in header.php:
<title><?php bloginfo('name'); ?><?php wp_title('|'); ?></title>With WordPress SEO active, I see this when I view the page source:
MyBlogPlease enjoy my latest post
With WordPress SEO inactive, I see this:
MyBlog | Please enjoy my latest post
Clearly, something’s up. Is there a setting in WP SEO that will let me display the titles correctly?
Same question here. Answer, anyone?

In reply to: [PHP Code Widget] Rename PHP Code widgets in sidebar?Really, Workshopshed? That’s fascinating.
However, if you’ll just check the subject and the thread, you’ll see we’re discussing the PHP Code Widget.

In reply to: [PHP Code Widget] Rename PHP Code widgets in sidebar? What are you, crazy, Otto? Your PHP Code Widget is the only one that works! I’m not giving it up.
Seriously, I use PHP content in my sidebars, and I’m using a widgetized sidebar. As far as I know, thanks to the squirrelyness of WordPress, there isn’t any other way to post PHP content in a widgetized sidebar other than through a widget such as yours.

In reply to: [PHP Code Widget] Rename PHP Code widgets in sidebar? The widget title in the Sidebar area of the Widgets Admin page, which is the area about which I am concerned, carries a class of widget-title h4.
I’m not interested in removing the title. I’m interested in personalizing the label for each widget.
Please take some time to read the question before you try to answer it!

In reply to: [Yoast SEO - Advanced SEO with real-time guidance and built-in AI] Robots.txtYou don’t need a robots.txt?
There are endless discussions on the web of what’s appropriate for robots.txt. Now you say we don’t need it at all?
When did this new orthodoxy take hold?
By the way, if your plugin isn’t editing robots.txt, how does it determine whether items such as tags and categories get indexed or not? I understood that to be the job of robots.txt.
Thanks.
Went back in to the GA plugin settings and did the manual installation. GA now shows status as green.
I’d still like clarification on tracking confirmation, though.
Thanks!

In reply to: [Relevanssi - A Better Search] Still searching OR when I set it for ANDI heartily agree. You can’t do anything for me at all.
Let’s hope someone else can.

In reply to: [Relevanssi - A Better Search] Still searching OR when I set it for ANDThe latest version of course. I installed it directly from WordPress.org.
Doesn’t work for me. Don’t know what to tell you.

In reply to: Function will not run from widget text boxThanks so much, alchymyth. I suspect many others have wasted untold hours on this problem and never found a solution.
The first two plugins I tried were broken, but otto’s PHP Code Widget is the ticket:

In reply to: post thumbnails not showingI’m running WP 3.1 and also can not get post thumbnails to display at all by editing my custom theme. I’ve read all the tutorials and the codex and inserted all the recommended code in functions.php and my theme. But nothing shows up.
Further, I’ve seen no explanation of exactly how I’m supposed to know post thumbnails are activated. Will the script automatically grab the first image from the post and place it as a thumbnail on my front page or category pages or archive pages or single pages, depending on where I’ve placed the script?
Will there be an “insert thumbnail” option in my admin page? That isn’t explained anywhere.
I’ve been able to get post thumbnails to work one way — by using the thumbnail-for-excerpts plugin. But I want to activate post thumbnails without using a plugin.

In reply to: [Plugin: WP-DBManager] Does not work after wordpress 2.9We could use more information than a link, Lester.
Should we presume this job ticket relates to a problem that is preventing WP-DB-Manager from performing its scheduled backups?
If so, do you feel that WordPress is addressing the issue? Is a fix likely and imminent?
Thank you.

In reply to: [Plugin: WP-DBManager] Does not work after wordpress 2.9Lester, I’m having the same problem with both sites I manage.
WP-DB-Manager will perform manual backups, but it has not performed the automatic backups since December 23.
Again, two different sites, on different servers, both running WP 2.9, same problem.
We need a fix.
You’re awesome. Thanks!

In reply to: Cannot automatically upgrade pluginsI’ve got this same problem since the upgrade to WP 2.8.
Shouldn’t have to CHMOD, create directories or anything else. The automatic update is a feature of WP, and the feature should work.
Why doesn’t it? I don’t see any solution here or anywhere else.
