Hi @tfarino
Thanks for getting back to me on this.
The shortcodes should work. If you can give me an example of one you’re using, I can see if you’ve formatted it differently, or if it needs a parameter added or something.
As for the listings showing up under categories, that setting should take care of things. This sounds like a cache issue possibly. We recommend clearing the server cache if you have one (which is found either in your hosting settings or on your plugin settings for things like WP Super Cache and W3TC if you have them installed), as well as your client browser cache.
The best way to get uncached data on your browser is to use a Private Browsing window or Incognito mode (depending on your browser). That ensures you’re seeing the latest, correct data.
Please try that and let me know if you run into more issues.
glad to hear that you found the source @mrmyles ! Good work!
Hi @lucastroy
Thanks for getting back to me on this. I think this may be an issue with the theme you’re using. Have you tried using the default WordPress TwentyTwenty theme?
Please try that and let me know what you find.
Hi @mrmyles
Thank you for reaching out about this. I’m sorry to hear that you ran into issues with the sort order.

Hi @lucastroy
Thank you for reaching out about this. I’m sorry to hear that you ran into issues with the categories.
I couldn’t access the page link you sent.
Since I haven’t been able to reproduce this on my test site, will you check if you have the same issue under these conditions?
– all other plugins deactivated
– any custom code removed
– WP 2020 theme active
– running the current version of the Business Directory Plugin
– running the current version of WordPress
– all site, server, and browser caches clearedThe conflict test results will help us troubleshoot the issue a little faster. Please let me know.
Hi @kylewith
Thank you for reaching out about this. I’m sorry to hear this is happening.
Can you please let me know what plugins you are having this problem with? We haven’t had any other reports of this, and I’d like to try to reproduce the problem if I can.
Please let me know. If you’d like to contact us directly, just send a link to this forum thread here: http://businessdirectoryplugin.com/contact/
Hi @eshanfelt1
I’m sorry that you felt like you didn’t get the features you need with our plugin. I did want to respond and correct a few of your statements here.
You wrote that “To enable the paid option you must purchase the plugin.”
We actually provide the ability to accept payments with the Lite/free version of the plugin using the Authorize.net module (included), so you didn’t need to upgrade to turn payments on.
You can also have multiple payment plans of varying amounts — that is a feature in the core/free plugin as well.
It sounds like perhaps we didn’t educate you correctly about these things. Did you reach out to our support team? We are always happy to help.
If you would like to troubleshoot this issue further please contact us with a link to this forum thread here: http://businessdirectoryplugin.com/contact/
Please give our team a chance to help you get things sorted out, as it’s never our goal for customers to have a bad experience.
Best,
~Bobbie

Hi @priyankac
Thank you for reaching out about this. This feature is available in our free core plugin.
You can learn more about how to set this up in our Knowledge Base here: https://businessdirectoryplugin.com/knowledge-base/how-do-i-add-category-specific-fields/ Just make sure that “Person” and “Companies” are your categories.
I hope that helps. If there’s something else I can help you with, please let me know.
Hi @wayneleech
Thank you for reaching out about this.
If you go to Directory > Form Fields and find the long description field, there will be a setting to allow HTML. Check that and save your changes, then everything should display as you want.
Please try that and let me know if you run into more issues.
Hi @mthindes
I’m sorry to hear that you ran into issues with this!
Can you try changing the Form Type setting to Text Field instead of textarea? That will give you a link that opens whatever default email program people use.
Please try that and let me know if you run into more issues.

In reply to: [AWP Classifieds] Grid LayoutHi @janjawat1
Sorry for the delay in responding here!
Right now, we don’t have a way to get a grid layout in the plugin; however, there are plugins out there that might work for this. I have used Grid Plus before, and it seems to work okay: https://wordpress.org/plugins/grid-plus/ and I have also used Post Grid as well: https://wordpress.org/plugins/post-grid/
Keep in mind that these plugins haven’t been fully vetted with AWPCP, so I can’t guarantee that there wouldn’t be an issue, but generally, they do a great job that I’ve seen.
I hope that helps. Please let me know if you have any other questions or issues!`
Hi @merazul
Thank you for reaching out about this. I apologize for the delay in responding here!
We don’t have a way to do this right now in the plugin settings, but you may be able to do it with custom CSS.
While all fonts, colors and spacing can be changed using custom CSS, providing exact code here is beyond the scope of support we can offer. Here is an article about how to use custom CSS with Business Directory in a way that doesn’t get overwritten on upgrade of BD: https://businessdirectoryplugin.com/knowledge-base/how-to-use-custom-styles-with-bd/
If you aren’t familiar with CSS, you can start reading up on it here: https://www.htmldog.com/guides/css/beginner/
You can use Chrome Developer Tools to examine the code of your site. Here are written instructions for how to have a look here: https://developers.google.com/web/tools/chrome-devtools/ and here is a short video that might help: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nOEw9iiopwI
I hope that helps.
Awesome! I’m glad it worked out!
Hi @nigeld67
The sidebar issue is one that happens on some themes. There are a couple of options for you to try here:
– First, see if your theme allows you to adjust the sidebars for our pages. If it does, that’s under Appearance->Themes. You may need to dig around for it in there.
– If not, try out compatibility mode. Under Directory, Settings, General tab, Advanced sub-tab, check the option “Disabled Advanced CPT Integration” and save the settings. If that doesn’t work, you may need to do a template override. Customizing the plugin comes with its own risks and complications–like the fact that any changes you make can break other aspects of the plugin and any issues you have need to be tested against an unmodified plugin for support. If you’d like to proceed with that and have the right skill set, you can learn more about that here: https://businessdirectoryplugin.com/knowledge-base/general-customization-guide/
