@tiisukka I need to know the actual error message to be able to help you. For the file change warnings what kind of files are they? Is it cache files or something similar you could exempt from the check?
It sounds like your server doesn’t support SSL. Open your wp-config.php and remove the SSL lines.
There is a “View Logs” section in the security menu in the Dashboard
@k3na29xx I’m looking at a service to send it to Dropbox, but, as it’s a security plugin, I can’t bring myself to save it to the same server (that could be one heck of a security hole if anything else goes wrong).
Ahh, so that’s the case only with Russian searches? I have no way of fixing this myself but would like to work with you to do so (I can barely handle English much less Russian). Is that the only piece that is causing the issue and do you know if the issue is present in Apache as well?
@molandra, most of the options highlighted in yellow require .htaccess as does hide backend and ban users.
@mr34101 can you email me offsite at info [at] bit51 [dot] com. Perhaps you can get me a temporary account that I can take a look and try to see what’s going on…
@dukejames27 ban hosts/users is still there in 3.3. I would love to say that hide backend will work for everyone but, in over 50 sites, I haven’t been able to reproduce the bug. Same offer if you want to email me I would be happy to take a look for you.
Did both installs have the same database prefix (not sure how that could happen but I’ve seen stranger things)? If both were on the same prefix that would indeed kill the second database. If not it might have been confused as to which wp-config file to use check both and make sure the correct database prefix is present.
Eric,
I clicked on your link and it looks ok to me? Are you back in?
If by change -wp you mean the database please clear all caches and try again. If that doesn’t work it is possible on an existing site for your server to run out of memory in which case your best bet will be to restore the backup you made.
Hmm, can you paste that code into pastebin? Also, it shouldn’t ban your own IP address if you’re logged in as admin (that could cause one heck of a problem).
Were you using the filechecker feature? Try deleting ‘bwps_filecheck’ from your options table and it should take care of it. Unfortunately file checking is a VERY memory intensive feature…
Interesting. so you’re going to http://yoursite.com/friend/file? This is not an operation that should be affected by anything in Better WP Security. You can try removing the Better WP Security section from your .htaccess to confirm.
Contact me through http://bit51.com/contact/ so I can get a little more info from you and help you get it back up.
Chris
That error log is not associated with Better WP Security and as such I cannot help you with it.
Are you using Database query caching? This could cause all but 2 for the database backups to happen.
Can you contact me through bit51.com so that I may get some more information from you?
