In reply to: [Simple Shortcode for Google Maps] No OutputI should have updated this post. My apologies.
WebFactory worked with me by email and we worked it out was a restriction on my API key within the Google Cloud Console. You can amend, add, remove etc. restrictions (by domain or other means) in:
https://console.cloud.google.com/apis/credentials
Or when you have navigated into the console go to APIs overview, then click on credentials on the left which should list your keys on the right. You can edit them and see what restrictions apply if any.
I couldn’t work out what key was what … so I created a new key for the domain I was working on and restricted it to that domain.
Hope this helps and thanks WebFactory.

In reply to: [Simple Shortcode for Google Maps] No OutputHi
Thank you. I appreciate you getting back to me.
I tried 1123 Broadway Suite 313, New York, New York 10010, USA and 1123 Broadway, New York, New York 10010, USA … neither worked.
Is there any way to test what’s happening, areas to look for error logging, that you can suggest? Do you know how to see what the errors being report in the Maps API are? Google Cloud Platform is completely bewildering, I just want a map.
Thanks for your help.

In reply to: Core requests FTP info to update, plugins do not …I have fixed the issue. Yay. Less than six months I think …
I found these pages:
https://www.rayheffer.com/building-secure-wordpress-server-lamp-centos-7-selinux/
https://francispereira.com/deploying-wordpress-with-selinux-enabled/In the end I changed all files and folders in my www directory to:
httpd_sys_rw_content_t
using:
$ semanage fcontext -a -t httpd_sys_rw_content_t “/var/www(/.*)?”‘
and then:
$ restorecon -Rv /var/www
and both the core and themes and plugins update now from wp-admin.
I am not sure how secure applying the above setting to an entire web root folder is, but it is a development server so I am happy for the moment. If anyone has thoughts let me know.

In reply to: Core requests FTP info to update, plugins do not …I have been trying to solve this for weeks …
I found this post: https://wordpress.org/support/topic/wordpress-file-permissions-broken-after-updating-php56w-from-5-6-31-to-5-6-35/
If you are still out there. Your suggestion to amend the SELinux security policy to permissive solved my issue above. I did a restorecon … then switched the policy back to enforcing, and I still can’t update core but can update themes and plugins and upload to the media library.
If you have any further advice or pointers about SELinux policy please let me know. I really appreciate it.

In reply to: [Image Gallery Google Style] wp 4.7.11Hi Katherine
Could you send me a link to the page where the plugin is not working.
As far as I understand it does work in Firefox, using any WordPress version after 3.5.0, but not with the Gutenberg plugin, or the Gutenberg editor set as default from WP5 and on.
Let me know some more details, ideally send me a link, so I can troubleshoot this further.
Thank you.

In reply to: [No Right Click Images] Coding ThoughtsHi Keith
Its definitely complicated. I’m pretty sure in iOS scrolling starts with a touchstart event. preventDefault on touchstart impacts scrolling. But I could be wrong. I’ve not spent a huge amount of time on it.
Let me know if I can help you test etc. Am happy to.

In reply to: [No Right Click Images] Coding ThoughtsHi Keith
I looked at the beta download on WordPress … In my testing it is use of the touch event (document.addEventListener(“touchstart”,kpg_nrci_cm, false);) that creates problems for iOS, not the css. I use this code:
jQuery(document).ready(function() { jQuery('img').css('-webkit-user-select', 'none').css('-webkit-touch-callout', 'none'); document.addEventListener('mousedown', bf.disableEvent); document.addEventListener('contextmenu', bf.disableEvent); document.addEventListener('copy', bf.disableEvent); document.addEventListener('cut', bf.disableEvent); bf.windowLoseFocus(); } bf.disableEvent = function(event){ console.log('bf.disableEvent'); if (event.target.tagName == "IMG") { event.cancelBubble = true; if(event.preventDefault != undefined) { event.preventDefault(); } if(event.stopPropagation != undefined) { event.stopPropagation(); } return false; } } bf.windowLoseFocus = function() { console.log('bf.windowLoseFocus'); function onBlur() { jQuery('main img, aside img').addClass('image-lose-focus'); }; function onFocus(){ jQuery('main img, aside img').removeClass('image-lose-focus'); }; if (/*@cc_on!@*/false) { // check for Internet Explorer document.onfocusin = onFocus; document.onfocusout = onBlur; } else { window.onfocus = onFocus; window.onblur = onBlur; } }I’m using it on a site that already uses jQuery, so I use jQuery’s ‘jQuery(document).ready’ but you don’t have to use jQuery.
I’m not sure if this helps …
The code above also includes a little additional obfustication, images are made transparent when the browser loses focus which happens when someone uses the screengrab app to take a screengrab. It’s NOT bulletproof in anyway, but none of this is and it possibly all helps.

In reply to: [No Right Click Images] Coding ThoughtsHi Keith
No problem I am pleased the code might be helpful. Your work has helped me, it is a pleasure to be able to help in return.
That’s always the worry isn’t it, that something breaks something for someone somewhere … I am still testing, I will keep you posted if I learn of any problems. So far so good.

In reply to: Core requests FTP info to update, plugins do not …Hi a2hostinglk
I am using the WordPress admin site update functionality to update the core and the plugins.
It works for the plugins and for an image upload, WordPress can write to the webroot, but it doesn’t work for core …

In reply to: [Image Gallery Google Style] LightboxOne thing … it sounds like when you click on a thumbnail, you go to the attachment page rather than a panel opening. Do you have a link to where the plugin is running? I will check out.

MikeForum: Plugins
In reply to: [Image Gallery Google Style] LightboxHi @dogee
Possibly, with some custom javascript. There is a javascript event handler added to any grid thumbnail click to open the panel with a larger image. Lightbox uses the same event I think. With custom javascript, you could possibly remove the thumbnail click event added by this plugin and add your own that uses lightbox.
To be honest, my intention with this plugin is to not use lightbox. I am not a fan of it.
The plugin upgrade (https://imagegallerygooglestyle.com/upgrade/) includes a previous and next option so you can click through the images in the gallery.
I have been wondering if the free version needs a few more options to be of more interest. What interests you in it? Do you like lightbox? Would you prefer not to use lightbox if possible? What would make this work for you?
I am offering the upgrade at 50% off right now. There is a code you can copy and paste in the upgrade website at the top of each page. What do you think of the price?
Thanks @dogee. I appreciate any feedback.

In reply to: [The J A Mortram] Text Overlapping Image in Amazon AdSuper. Pleased it worked.

In reply to: [The J A Mortram] Text Overlapping Image in Amazon AdHi @jaden94
I looked at this.
On one level, Amazon should be able to reset the CSS on their ads and make them work across any site. This is their job.
It appears a universal reset in the The J A Mortram css is conflicting with Amazon’s CSS.
Try adding this to the custom CSS in the WordPress admin and let me know whether it works:
div, article, section, header, footer, nav, li {
position: static;
}Regards
