Things just got weird.
– I had completely spaced that we have pi-hole enabled so that got disabled.
– With pi-hole disabled, I was still unable to get the plugin to work.
– My husband, with pi-hole disabled but plugins enabled, could not get the plugin to work
– My husband disabled his plugins and with pi-hole disabled, he was able to get the plugin to work.
– I was still unable to get the plugin to work with pi-hole and plugins disabled
– With pi-hole enabled, my husband was able to cURL the page
– I then thought that everyone seemed to have no problem getting the plugin to work when I asked for help so I VPN’d to several sites across the US and international and every single time the plugin worked regardless of extensions or if pi-hole enabled or disabled
– I then thought about DNS. I disconnected from my VPN and changed our local DNS to Google’s public one and with extensions and pi-hole enabled, it worked
– As stated above, my husband had no DNS issues and for him it was a matter of extensions
– With our DNS, we’ve had zero problems accessing any websites, tools, plugins, etc across the internet and we’re online about eight hours a day (work and pleasure)
– With pi-hole enabled, using Google’s public DNS, no extensions and with tracking protection turned off, the plugin works in Firefox.
– With pi-hole enabled, using Google’s public DNS, with no tracking protection or extensions, the plugin works in Safari
– With pi-hole enabled, using Google’s public DNS, extensions re-enabled, the plugin works in ChromeMy husband and I are both stumped.
I don’t know if OS matters but he runs Linux and I am on a Mac.
I consider this to be resolved but I am curious as to what your thoughts are on this!
I use Chrome to mainly develop. As I said previously, not only do I not have Ghostery or Privacy badger installed on Chrome OR Firefox, I don’t use add on-extensions so there is nothing for me to disable which is why I turned off “Do Not Track” only just to be sure.
After working yesterday afternoon, the plugin is gone again. I’ve cleared the cache and even cookies to cover all bases. I’ve checked against not only Chrome but also Firefox and Safari. Same thing.
I do not have any other plugins enabled.
I have rolled the site back to the 2015 and 2017 themes and I’m having the same issue.
Other suggestions?
There are no add-on anti-tracking or anti-malware extensions installed in my Chrome or Firefox installs.
Foolishly, I did not do a hard reset to clear the cache and reload, which I did this morning, and the plugin is now showing up.
That’s interesting about the anti-tracking since the default of “Do Not Follow” is turned on in my Chrome install and I never had a problem in the past of loading websites either I was creating or viewing with Facebook widget. But I’ll use this as a troubleshooting tool if things break again. Thanks!
Same problem.
I am using GMAIL as my smtp server. Per Google’s instructions:
smtp server: smtp.gmail.com
Encryption: TLS
Port: 587Under the “Additional Settings” tab, “Enable Debug Log” is checked.
I am sending a test email to my gmail account with the return address of another gmail account.
When I click “Send Test Message,” the “Debug Info” window is empty. When I navigate back to “Additional Settings” and click on “View Log,” it pulls up a blank page.
Suggestions?

In reply to: [Seasonal] Full post on front pageI swapped from “Small” to “Full” and it’s working. I knew there was an option I was missing but I couldn’t find it. Thanks again for all of your help. 🙂

I do not see an option in the customization tool to remove the excerpts. Can you please point me to where that option is located?
The site in question is lisa.rabey.net

In reply to: [Seasonal] Featured ImagesOkay, could not find what was causing the 640×200 cropping, so I downloaded AJAX Thumbnail Rebuild and ran that which seemed to clear whatever was causing the 640×200 issue, then using the app, rebuilt all the images to 640×480. This seemed to work.
I also added the following:
.single .wp-post-image {
margin-left: auto;
margin-right: auto;
margin-top: 20px;
margin-bottom: 20px;
}
To center the images on the single posts.THANK YOU! 🙂

In reply to: [Seasonal] Featured Images“Do you have your settings filled with specific dimensions?”
The thumbnail was 150×150 and I changed it to 1000×1000. https://exitpursuedbyabear.net/?attachment_id=16939.
Problem is still happening:
https://exitpursuedbyabear.net/?p=16893&preview=true&preview_id=16893&preview_nonce=0075418b36&post_format=standardI’ve combed through all settings and there is nothing with the 640×200 anywhere.
The bottom sidebar now works but is now on the same line as the copyright, fyi.
Oh. Dur. Forgot that I had a second author on the site (who helps me with the backend and doesn’t write anything). The .author-info worked.
Thank you so much! (And for the quick response!)
I’ll run some more tests to try to understand and fix this conflict between the 2 plugins. I’ll get back to you as soon as I have some news.
Huzzah! I’m glad we at least figured out what the problem was, I was going insane!
I’ll leave the plugin deactivated since it doesn’t seem to hamper my actual SSL access.
Thanks so much!

Do you think you could deactivate the HTTPS plugin for a few minutes and test the contact form again, just to make sure the problem is not linked to a conflict with that plugin?
I deactivated the plugin and the contact form AND email subscription now work!
Can you also test please?
Hi there!
Could you post a list of all active plugins on your site at the moment?
ACTIVE
Akismet
All In One SEO Pack

Google Analytics for WordPress
Google XML Sitemaps

Jetpack by WordPress.com

List category posts
LiveJournal Crossposter
MediaElement.js – HTML5 Audio and Video
Organize Series
Smart Archives Reloaded

Word StatsThe three newest plugins installed are Word Stats, Organize Series, and Smart Archives Reloaded which have all be loaded within the last four months, though to be fair the problem started beforehand. The others are ones I’ve used for years.
INACTIVE
Clean and Simple Contact Form [I’ve used this to replace the Jetpack Comment form and it works]
Collapsing Archives
Official StatCounter Plugin
Perfect Quotes
Redirection [Deactivated yesterday per your request]
WordPress Importer
WP-Print
ZotpressWith deactivated plugins, if I choose to stop using one, I usually hold on to it to make sure I no longer need it for say a month or so. Then I delete it. But I haven’t done that in a few months so many of these have been hanging out for ages.
Thanks!
-lisaWhen you submit a contact form, do you see it appear under the Feedback menu in your dashboard?
No. I’ve tested this several times since the summer and just had a few people test it for me right now and nothing is showing up in the Feedback menu.
If not, could you post a link to a test form so I can run some tests?
https://exitpursuedbyabear.net/contact/
Do you use any redirection plugins
I’m running Redirection for 301s from when my site had a different domain many years ago, and this has now been deactivated. I also have SSL set up on my domain and have the WordPress HTTPS plugin. This plugin is apparently the only way to manage SSL via WordPress so I would like to try not to have to deactivate it but if need to for testing, I will.
or did you set up custom rules in your site’s .htaccess that may break plugins adding extra parameters to URLs on your site?
Running on Nginx, so no .htaccess. There is nothing explicit for this specific domain to block plugin URL rewrites, but will say “possibly” until I exactly what the plugin needs to do for url rewrites.
Thanks!
Lisa
Just realised i did NOT add my domain: http://exitpursuedbyabear.net

In reply to: W3 Total Cache critical vulnerability disclosedMy apologies for the very late reply, but wanted to follow up:
The site WAS fully cleaned by myself and double checked by my host provider (Dreamhost). It was also checked against sucuri.net to be doubly sure, which I do on a regular basis (once a week and whenever I install a new plugin). I was assured by both sucuri.net AND Dreamhost my site was clean and yet, after installing the plugin after you patched it, I was hacked.
Anamoly? Perhaps. But there you go.
