In reply to: Scheduled posts not publishingWhat is the command that you used in the cron job? If it isn’t working you can also try running that same command through ssh. If it fails in ssh you will at least get an error. Does your host give you access to ssh?

In reply to: Plugins and CPU usageJerrySarcastic is definitely right. Plugins have caused my site to get throttled through Bluehost in the past. One thing that has helped me a lot is that they offer a free version of CloudFlare. I would suggest looking into that as well to help speed up your site.
There is a temporary url with Bluehost. You will need to edit your database if you want to use it though, since wordpress is url specific. Bluehost should be able to help you with that though.
Does Piwik use a specific port? I assume that since you were using it before you had the port open. You may want to look into that. Unfortunately that is the only thing I can really think of on this.

In reply to: Scheduled posts not publishingJust to verify, you setup a cron job to call the wp-cron.php file, or are you letting wordpress try and create the cron themselves? At least in my hosting we don’t have access to crontab, so we have to set it up through their cron system.

In reply to: Migrated to Namecheap, now Trouble with Database & wp-configThat sounds to me like either a database username permissions problem, or you can check the files and folders permissions on the server. I could help more if you were on Bluehost since I know their system. I hope this helps.

In reply to: Switched Blogger to WP, now Google can't find old PostsOk the main issue I am seeing is that you don’t know where those files are or how to upload them. Is this your primary domain on your Bluehost account? If so then you can go to their file manager and open the public_html folder. That is where all your wordpress files will be if it is your primary domain. If this is an addon domain it will be in a folder inside public_html. Their file manager also has a handy upload tool for you to upload those files.
Let me know if you need anything else, it helps to have an account with them so I know the setup 🙂

In reply to: WordPress won't load to edit my siteUnfortunately the WP_DEBUG option is only really helpful if your site is not loading due to errors. This is because it has more time for you to see the error since the site won’t load at all. In your situation Flo_bsh, I would have to suggest you contact your host to see where they keep their error logs. All php errors should be recorded there, that will give you a better idea of what is going on.

In reply to: Sudden 500 Server ErrorYou can also edit your wp-config.php if you don’t want to mess with the php.ini. Simply go in to edit it and find the line that contains
define(‘WP_DEBUG’, false);
Change that to
define(‘WP_DEBUG’, true);
This will make your errors show up on screen instead of the WSOD. You will want to make sure you change that back after you fix it. I know Hostmonster has a good article on fixing it once you know the cause

In reply to: website hacked, can't even loginThat sounds like your DNS is not pointed correctly. I would have to suggest you contact your hosting provider to make sure everything is pointed properly.

In reply to: Error Establishing Database ConnectionI had the same problem with my site before. I had a plugin that wasn’t accessing the database correctly which made it take much longer than it was supposed to.
Bluehost allows 15 mysql connections at a time. Normally this should be enough, but if you have a rogue plugin like I did it uses all of those. I would suggest looking at your slow mysql queries folder. I believe it is in /tmp/mysql_slow_queries on your account. I hope this helps!

In reply to: WordPress won't load to edit my siteWhen you get a blank page like that it is almost always a php error. You can edit your wp-config.php and change:
define(‘WP_DEBUG’, false);
to:
define(‘WP_DEBUG’, true);This will make it so you can see the error you are getting (it will be displayed when you go to the page, instead of the blank screen). You will want to change that back as soon as you are done since that is a security risk. Bluehost has a tutorial on how to fix most of the errors. Here it is:

In reply to: [Plugins] [Plugin: Plugins] Setting up PublicizeI know that sharepress can help you do that automatically. Here is a link for it:

I would suggest checking out that plugin. I use it myself.
@aitpro Just so you know, .htaccess works in a waterfall approach (what I have always heard it called). Like you said all information in the parent will take affect in the child if there is no .htaccess. That being said, if there is a .htaccess in the child directory, it needs to contain some information so that it doesn’t still use the parent directories settings. For example if you don’t want the redirects in the parent directory being used on the child, you would need to create the .htaccess in the child and simply add RewriteEngine On. That way the child directory would look there for redirects and see that there aren’t any.
I hope I made sense 🙂
